Some of the diplomatic papers stolen from the State Department and leaked Sunday by Wikileaks show more than just potentially embarrassing revelations about U.S. views of allies but disturbing developments among alleged friends as well as foes and competitive states.
The details from the cables being released -- among 250,000 illegally taken from secret State Department records -- include discussions on the U.S. being unable to stop Syrian arms to Hezbollah, its disappointment in Qatar to stop funding terrorism and hacking by the Chinese government of U.S. computers
Samples of some of the thousands of documents that were to be released by Wikileaks Sunday night began leaking out midday after the German newspaper Der Spiegel and The New York Times released excerpts earlier than planned.

The greatest damage by the leaks as reported by the Slimes in the long article linked below will be in the Arab World while still saying nothing is going to change much in that what has been revealed merely confirms the suspicions they've harbored about the US all along.
NYT:Updates on the Reaction to U.S. Diplomatic Cables Released by Wikileaks
i just don’t understand why these people are not hunted down arrested and tried for treason.
Am I the only one that likes that this happened?
What egg on Obama’s face.
There is a small(?) up-side. Our government’s inadequacies and bonehead plays are out there for all to see.
The leakers, the publishers or our government “overlords”?
The leaked info is a true testimony of the superior intellects, and the above board actions of the ruling class. The American poeple should be very proud! /sar
OK, gang, who do you say is behind this circus?
Muslims(Iran, maybe)? Chicoms? I haven’t seen much in what has been leaked so far to make either regime look bad.
Or is this Assange a__hole just one sick SOB?
these leaks are good news.
perhaps now, the US gov’t
will stop helping the enemy
the zero administration with soros’ blessing and assistance.
Corrected for grammar and spelling.
He will claim he didn't condone most of it and Hillary will get blamed. He may have to reluctantly ask her to resign in disgrace.
Has Private Bradley Manning been arrested yet?
I didn’t qualify my words of being those of an optimist.
I did qualify my words of being those of an optimist.
Sorry for my posting error. Please disregard the former of the two.
“Am I the only one that likes that this happened? What egg on Obamas face.”
I don’t like the idea that this might place lives at risk, but I think at least the American people should know what our government is up to. When people complain about how our liberties are being stripped, and our government is selling us out to a world government, I guess this is what our government was receiving in return.
He has been in solitary for the last seven months.
“OK, gang, who do you say is behind this circus? Muslims(Iran, maybe)? Chicoms?”
Maybe patriots, libertarians, or the like.
The only thing I find appalling is that a Pvt. in the US Army could access to anything other than his lunch schedule. That would be the first place to start. How did Pvt. Dickwad get access to these documents?
This document dump is a black hole operation. Now everyone will believe they know how we think, and no one will question the source.
No, there is a distinct line between libertarianism and treason.
“His main threat is Hillery. And these leaks make the State department look like a bunch of bumbling fools. Hillery will be sacked for cause. Ending her political career.”
Don’t underestimate Hillary. If she does lose her career, Obama is in deep doo-doo. He better watch his back.
For example, in one of the cables, an American Diplomat in Panama talks about Noriega - having no clue whatsoever that the American military would invade and capture Noriega one week later...
Has anybody considered, that maybe Wikileaks “Altered” some or all of the documents?
I am “Pro-US”, but I don’t believe everything the US Government says, but I have no reason at all to believe anything Wikileaks says, prints or post. After all these are “digital documents”.
This could be an “Altered Digital Document Dump”.
Perhaps that is what someone at the State Dept had in mind.
(Not justifying it, looking at motives)
The only problem with your theory is I haven’t heard anyone suggest that documents are inaccurate (including government officials).
While the release shows how weak our current president is, I for one am glad these documents were leak. Most never should have been classified in the first place.
The government classifies over 8 million documents a year. 7,990,000 documents most likely shouldn’t have been. It is good to know that the President knew Iran was making a nuclear weapon, arms shipments to Hezbollah, Chinese cooperation with North Korea, Saudis financing Al Qaeda, Chinese Cyber Attacks, etc... etc...
It is as bad as we suspected and worse.
I can just imagine the headlines:Ass-guy Terminated-Death by Fatwacide.
It’s a big upside.
“Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.
What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” - Matthew 10:27-29
Hillary had better get used to being hauled off to the woodshed, her job just turned to the crappiest one in all of Washington. She is not up to it and it will wear her down to nothing.
This does not endanger the lives of any troops, but just exposes a bunch of left-wing Obama diplomats and cronies. I personally enjoy seeing them squirm.
They wanted gays in the military, well, reap your bitter fruit.
Couldn't happen to a nicer administration.
Dont underestimate Hillary. If she does lose her career, Obama is in deep doo-doo. He better watch his back.
Oh I agree. Look for a second document dump from the state department concerning background on Obama before she leaves.
Getting rid of Obama but still trying to save the party will not matter as much now if Hillary goes down but nuking him and the communist part of the party will before the last of her power is lost.
I just don't trust the truthfulness of any information, by a group that is intent on getting US and our Allies people killed.
They can be compared to the always true publications found at the check-out stands of your local grocery store.
No. There are a few of us who see this for what it really is.
Those who are condemning Wikileaks on this keep ignoring two things.
1) The MSM sources that are 'publishing' the leaked documents from Wiki are picking and choosing what to print.
2) So far, we are just finding out things our enemies already know.
No, you’re not the only one.
Secrets lead to corruption.....exposing that corruption is ALWAYS a good thing. (as long as soldiers lives are not at risk)
AND, we can finally call a SPADE a SPADE.
One thing's for sure, The American Public is going to find out what the rest of the world already knows.
“World Shaken by Wikileaks”
Funny, Wikileaks already ‘released’ a ton of documents, and the world didn’t ‘shake’.
It won’t this time either. Maybe the American Public will wake up and smell the roses that everyone else on the planet can smell.
If these “leaks” hurt Obama I can live with that.
We complain too much and do too little action, sorry I’m old school, an anachronism of the ways things used to be done.
Foggy Bottom leaks bump for later........
Arrested is too kind, they need to sleep with the worms.
From what I can tell there was not much substance in these leaked docs that was not already known. What is mortifying to the State Department are the candid assessments of other people and countries that they contain.
“The very word ‘secrecy’ is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret oaths, and to secret proceedings.”
- John F. Kennedy
Depends how how you define “not already known.” What I liked about the leak was the confirmation of what we already know or suspected, despite every government agency’s denial. We suspected that the government was pulling the wool over our eyes on a vast array of these issues. The wool has been removed.
Should we release all of the acoustical data about our naval ships? Maybe all of the frequencies used during midcourse guidance of hellfires or JDAMS? Maybe, to prove your point, you should declassify your real name and address? Post it here?
There just aren't that many. As this 250,000 documents show, they over-classify everything. Which once again shows what a bloated bureaucracy we have.
Classified status should be reserved for things like you just pointed out.
