WikiLeaks: Hillary Clinton ordered US diplomats to 'spy'

SNIP

The information Clinton directed the diplomats to ascertain ranged from basic biographical data such as diplomats' names and addresses to their frequent flier and credit card numbers, to even "biometric information on ranking North Korean diplomats." Typical biometric information includes fingerprints, signatures and iris recognition.

The cable, simply signed 'CLINTON', is classified S/NF - or 'Secret/No Foreign' - and was sent to 33 US embassies and the UN mission offices in New York, Vienna and Rome.

It asked officers overseas to gather information about "office and organisational titles; names, position titles and other information on business cards; numbers of telephones, cellphones, pagers and faxes," as well as "internet and intranet 'handles', internet e-mail addresses, web site identification-URLs; credit card account numbers; frequent-flier account numbers; work schedules, and other relevant biographical information," revealed the leaked documents.

This is O’s way of bashing hitlery. He did get some docs withheld but allowed the docs against her to be released.

The question now is what bubba is going to do about it.

She spied on Americans when she was in the White House and illegally obtained 900 FBI files.

Why should this come as any suprise?

Sounds like this should be standard operating procedure for diplomats. Intelligence such as ‘knowing’ as much as possible about your counterparts’ professional and personal life is a corner stone of sound diplomacy.

I still don’t understand why the Wikileaks guy is not room temp by now. He has not only given the USA a black eye but he has bloodied the nose of most other governments we are civil with. The Saudi’s have to be really ticked. There is so much cover for a hit on the guy it is unreal. If I had sold the guy a life insurance policy I would be trying to buy it back from him today for some discount on its payoff.

Pre-emptive shot at Hillary, yes..

But I think the BIG question here is wondering what everyone is going to do about the blatant treachery of 0bama. Releasing these previously "classified" docs has obviously been orchestrated by his operatives.

Diplomats spy? Oh no, I’m so suprised! It’s not like we’ve pretty much always done that.

This Wikileaks thing has so far produced some already well-known facts that are being hyped up as leaks.

Absolutely correct. The fact that Hillry! violated international treaties pretty much dooms her plans to supplant ZERO at the top of the ticket. THIS IS GREAT NEWS. We want OBAMA to stand for reelection.

He will be the last DEMONRAT PRESIDENT FOR A GENERATION.

At the end of the day I don’t think we get any great surprises here.

-Countries have their diplomats spy on each other all the time while claiming that they never do.

-Government have nasty and unspoken opinions about foreign leaders all the time, they just rarely get aired.

-Two-faced leaders feign neutrality while secretly pushing a superpower to attack their enemy (House of Saud)

I doubt that the diplomatic cables of any other major country would be much different.

Trying to be provocative, newbie? Obama didn't orchestrate anything. He is not benefitting at all from this dump of State telegrams. This is the revenge of a lowlife military creep who is unhappy about the DADT policy.

This isn’t about the top of the ticket. There’s no way Hillary could challenge Obama in the Dem primary without looking like a racist.
It does give Obama a reason to replace her with someone else for Sec of State.

Sorry. This cannot be spun into 'standard operating procedure'. Proof is in the pudding as they are already denying what you claim is 'standard operating procedure'.

Quote from the article...

"Meanwhile, in a Twitter posting, State Department spokesman P J Crowley denied that American diplomats were doing double duty as intelligence gatherers.

The Clinton Crime Syndicate has been planting negative articles and polls about Obama for months now. There are also rumors that Obama is implicated in the Broadway Bank scandal in Chicago. Knives are out. This is the Clinton Crime Syndicate versus the Obama Chicago Mob. Obama is killing the RATS and the Clinton camo is still incensed at the way Obama stole the nomination from them.

It weakens the effectiveness of diplomacy and that is especially problematic for someone who believes diplomacy can be used to solve every problem.

If the information that hillary’s State Department was requested to gather is supposed to be some of the most serious information released, then we don’t have a whole lot to worry about. Gathering that “almost public” information should be a standard operating procedure for our embassies. This type of data is gathered routinely in the business world, and should not alarm anyone.

Sounds like it borders on identity theft and fraud.

and if, for instance, some foreign diplomat is racking up charges at some porn site or titty bar, it could very be useful to know.

This is high stakes diplomacy, not you local city council meeting. All knowledge can be advantageous. I want to know everything possible about not only my adversaries, but also my 'friends.'

Everybody spies, businessmen are sometimes questioned by intelligence when they return from foreign business trips, and anyone that doesn't know that soldiers on exchange training operations are not gathering intelligence on their friendly counterparts, is naive. Our diplomats better be gathering intel on their foreign peers.

I am beginning to get the feeling that this whole thing is a set up. The Bush era docs were, quite frankly, boring and gave us nothing new. The Obama stuff that I have heard about is not much of anything new. The fact that the financing of Al Aqaeda is coming from SA is an eight year old story and everyone, everyone, knows that this has been the case.

I am not at all sure what is going on here, but I am not convinced that it is what we are begin told.

Just sayin’....
