In April 2005, the Portland city council voted 4 to 1 to withdraw Portland city police officers from participating in the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force. Mayor Tom Potter said the FBI refused to give him a top-secret security clearance so he could make sure the officers weren’t violating state anti-discrimination laws that bar law enforcement from targeting suspects on the basis of their religious or political beliefs. Truly Multnomah County is hopeless. This great revelation of Portland Mayor San Adams comes from an individual, who the citizens decided to retain after defeating a recall effort targeting his clearly substantiated involvement with pedophilia. As Lars Larson said, “Portland is the only city where you can have a Samuel Adams when you are under 18.” Without Multnomah County, Oregon would have joined the national trend of throwing the Democrats out of statewide offices.

The original decision to leave the task force was motivated by the individuals who saw themselves participating in all the meetings, but had such questionable backgrounds that they could not pass the security check.

The FBI told Portland’s Police Chief about the impending bust immediately before it happened, but he had to sign a confidentiality agreement in advance, and was not permitted to brief anyone, not even his staff. Current Mayor Sam Adams was notified of the attempted attack after the suspect was in custody.

Isn’t Portland, Oregon a “Smart Growth” city full of liberals who consider themselves better than most? Since they have accepted the progressive European model than shouldn’t they expect to live with a certain amount of terrorist bombings and European style double digit unemployment?
