People over 55 don't eat? You do what yo got to do, at 15, 35 or 55. A person at 55 :

Here's the thing, a lot of people have kids later in life than before, so it's not inconceivable that many people that age are dealing with paying for their kids' college tuition around that time.

Dude, it is all how you look at it. If I was unemployed for 4 years:

  1. Sell everything. (Keep the car and golf clubs)
  2. Head to FL.
  3. Rent a trailer
  4. Look for any kind of employment.

FWIW, my wife works and we took a vacation this year....she desperately needs one as she is putting in a lot of hours because I am not working.

I did not claim unemployment benefits for any of the days we were gone.....I am not sure all do this, but it is something to consider, as many outside looking in may have thought I was taking a vacation on the govts dime.

I just read your other response. I saw your age and suspect that has as much to do with your situation as anything. God bless you, you’re doing what you can and you’ll keep your head above water if you just keep on keeping on.

I guess little Timmy at State U. is gonna have a real dose of reality come Christmas! He'll have to join ROTC or get a part time job or quit. BOO F-ing hoo. Nobody ever felt sorry for me working 2 jobs as an undergraduate.

Do you have any idea what the cost is of selling a home

Worse yet, what if you have never been unemployed, have paid for your home between 15 and 20 years, have a 50% or more equity in it, and it is in a community where currently it can't sell for even the equity amount?

Could be a straw,the final straw.Don’t know.

Never thought of the extentions from your angle.Always thought it could go either way.Either way hungry people aren’t happy.

It’s a lot e3asier to just say sell everything and move across the country for a job which may not be there in 6 months.

Gotta love the armchair quartbacks on here who have probably never experienced anything close to what it is like being unemployed in this economy.

OMG, you mean you can't just coast, counting on the government to feed you forever?

This refudiates everything we're taught in government school, network nooz, and Oprah!

What? Are you implying that is against the law or something?

What is your problem anyway?

Either way hungry people aren’t happy.

Very true. But the job-creators that the government has chosen to dump on are not happy either. And as long as the government pushes for centralized control, they're not likely to create many jobs.

Thanks. If our start-up ever gets funded (you think jobs are scarce??? Try venture capital!) I'll be in Fat City.

What is your problem anyway?

I'm working now, make really good money. You have the problem, not me.

My wife would kill me if I wasn't working after a couple of months off. You can look for your dream job while hustling at Joe's Warehouse. Don't give me that overqualified BS. Just lie and say you have been driving fork lifts your whole life. Just act stupid, might come natural.

People are hurting in this country while we send taxpayer $$$ trillions to Africa, and the so-called “conservatives” keep their mouths shut about it for fear of being labeled, oh-my-god ‘RACIST!’. Nothing has been done by Saint Bush and the Republican Congress about H1Bs, about outsourcing to India and Communist China, which is how millions (I’d estimate) lost their jobs.

So it is OK to do wrong thing because someone else did wrong to you. Well if you are actually attempting to fix the problem then that might sometimes fly. But if you are making the problem worse then it is idiocy. Especially if that problem happens to be the financial Ruin of our country.

It is no different than the crack addict who keeps taking his hits so that he can keep feeling good. Only, eventually that leads to his death.

I can hardly wonder how the previous generations of America managed to live through depressions without the help of the government. Well they did not have welfare, but they had love and they had charity. They made it through.

It is that mentality of entitlement that you have that ensures the anger and the justification by those people that you speak of who will result to violence for their own means. And they will justify it the exact same way that you justify the taking of money that belongs to someone else.-even taking it by force.

Once upon a time most people relied on love, and charity, not government handouts. Once upon a time people overall did not result to violence because of economic hard times. Once upon a time people would downsize or do whatever they needed to do to survive in an honest way. You are embracing the wrong principles and ideas. A free nation will not work with in the principles you embrace.

The time is coming very soon when the government handouts will mathematically stop. You will see children starving in the streets. There will be few left to give charity to those in need. When you see them, then remember that we stole today what they will not have to eat then. Argue that point all you want, but it will still be true.

No offense, but you should ask for class for Christmas.

I’ve taken Master’s level courses towards an MBA.....not that I have to prove myself to a cretin like you. You merely highlight your ignorance with posts like that, as most everyone knows someone out of work in this economy.

And I know many people who are blue collar who have more class in the little finger than you could ever wish to have.

Good riddance, and don’t ever bother replying to me again.

Good point, after the rim job Uncle Sam gives me every payday, I've nothing left to give to charity.
