The House on Thursday formally censured Rep. Charlie Rangel for financial misconduct despite pleas from the New York Democratic lawmaker and some of his colleagues for a less punishing reprimand.
The House voted to censure Rangel 333-79.
Rangel, who became the 23rd House member to be censured, appeared at the front of the chamber while Speaker Nancy Pelosi read the resolution.

Censured. The sunovabeech should be in jail.
How about restitution, back taxes, interest and penalties?
“while Speaker Nancy Pelosi read the resolution.”
Did she choke on it while saying it?
Censured, a big whoop-how about a firing squad?
He should be a human hand puppet for Bubba.
Where can I buy the DVD?
Oh! Man! That’s very disrespectful! Cab Calloway was just about the coolest cat to ever hit this rock!
You or I would be under the flippin' jail for less than his CRIMES.
And they all get to pretend that this was a serious punishment.
Time for that Twenty-eighth Amendment.
Disgusting that he was applauded after his bullshit speech.
rancid is saying: “hahahahahaha snicker, snort snort oh boy... this really hurts..... hahahahahaha...... oh stop, your killing me , hahahahah.....”
And Wesley Snipes goes to jail.
This is just another slap in the faces of all of us who try to do right.
There it is, that’s how corrupt and dysfunctional the entire Congress is. A huge rip-off tax cheat who was allowed to write tax laws and we’re supposed to accept a censure? Really, hey guess what? Now I don’t feel like I should have to pay MY taxes.
Meaningless gesture; the people of Harlem are most pleased with their “lawmaker,” uh, lawbreaker.
Interesting that the 79 are not identified. Presumably the 41 members of the CBC and 38 non-blacks. MSM won’t identify the racist vote on this.
The House voted to censure Rangel 333-79. Rangel, who became the 23rd House member to be censured, appeared at the front of the chamber while Speaker Nancy Pelosi read the resolution.I'm sure they'll require him to repay all the money he misappropriated. Yeah, I threw up a little as I typed that. Thanks ColdOne.
He gave control odf his electoral district over to Obama;s community organikzers in order to get off soft. The deals been cut. When Obama looses in 2012, the riots will start i Harlem and also in Maxine Waters riding.
Now Obama has ffree reign to do his fascists thang in both Watts and Tamminy Hall.Just like he did in Kenya,in 2007.Only this time , unlike his predecessors, Obama won’t call out the national guard in LA and New York.
If I lived in those 2 cities, I would be ammo-ing up big time.(Then when citizens defend themselves , the left will try to end our 2nd amendment, after martial law is declared.)
You may be incredulous, but please, get with it. Its the Alinski way.
And so Rangel gets a slap on the wrist. If he did not give in to Obama, he would be in jail, and the son of his former rival would be occupyinng his seat in Congress.
This is the way fascism works folks. The deal has been struck. Both Watts and Harlem are about to be “radicalized.”And then they will be used as an excuse to lock down the nation.
Did Chuckles even serve in Korea, or is that a fabrication as well?
Yes, and our non-profit, donations at the door, orchestra was fined $3000 for calling a guy who helps set up chairs a ‘contractor’ rather than an ‘employee.’
Some animals are definitely better than others. When our fine-letter came, I should have said, “Charlie R will pay it.”
Roscoe does it again! LOL! (Lootie Out Loud.)
Just thinking the same thing.
I’m sure I saw that 2 of the 79 members voting against censure were republican votes...I know one was Peter King of NY...do you happen to know who the other was?
Yeah, but Wesley wasn't in Selma.
Little people don’t stand a chance. Getting worse all the time.
Now I have to look up the difference between a contractor and an employee.
It’s sickening to watch the media keep treating Rangel like a victim even after the censure vote.
If I ever get caught doing that many things wrong, I’ll ask the judge for “censure”. Surely he’ll see that censure would be far worse than an eight year term in Club Fed.
I can't see how he can live with himself now when he is feeling like people are treating him like a common criminal.
There has to be a better way for those who serve selflessly for so long just for the betterment of the people.
But didn’t he win 5 or 6 Medals of Honor in the Civil War or something?
The COMMUNIST from SF, who has been 2 heartbeats away from POTUS for the last 4 years, and is single handedly responsible for the theft of TRILLIONS from REAL AMERICANS.
THE BEAST, who walked through the streets of the US Capitol.
with her fellow reds brandishing the SOTH gavel as if it were a ROMAN FASCES in celebration of their assault on the US medical industry.
Is now going to hang POOR OLD CHARLIE BLACK MAN OUT TO DRY, because he just isn’t a big enough socialist crook to keep his big black ass out of the fire.
Har!, hope Pelosi enjoys Hitler and Saddam Husseins company in hell, looking forward to pissing on her grave, the sooner the better.
Censured and then what?
1) Does he pay the back taxes that he owes?
2) Does he pay a fine for mis-using his rent controlled apartments for political purposes?
3) Will he still be helping to write our tax laws?
If the answers are NO, NO and YES to the above, Censure is nothing but a lot of meaningless saliva.
I won’t mind simply being censured by the IRS if I don’ pay my taxes.
...and he won re-election.... What a sordid mess.
Wow. I’m really surprised! Only the 23rd? 24th? guy in HISTORY to be rebuked in this way by his peers?
Well, he’ll EASILY be re-elected, LOL!
Where be Maxine Waters anyway?
Saw Ben Stein on a TV commentary saying Rangel’s indiscretions were overblown and didn’t amount to anything.
He was wrong, and stupid to suggest it.
Why was he not tried in a court of law?
I don’t want to read “censured” next to a criminal’s name...I want to see “thrown out of Congress” or “sent to prison”. Y’know, any of the headlines that only seem to appear when a republican is convicted of some crime.
Thrown out of congress? Just like his predecessor Adam Clayton Powell?
His constituents must be so proud of their representatives.
