Bachmann: ‘There Needs To Be an Insurrection’ Against GOP Leaders If They Don’t Hold Straight Vote

(CNSNews.com) -- Rep. Michele Bachmann (R.-Minn.), founder and chairman of the House Tea Party Caucus, told CNSNews.com that there will need to be an “insurrection” against the House Republican leadership if it does not hold an independent, straight up-or-down vote on repealing the entire Obamacare law that does not tie this repeal to other policy initiatives including any effort to “replace” elements of Obamacare with new federal health-care reforms.

A spokesman for House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R.-Va.), who will be the House majority leader in the next Congress, told CNSNews.com in response to Bachmann’s statement that Cantor agrees with Bachmann and is committed to the vote she wants.

What is this? More political theater?
The Obamcare repeal will never pass the Senate, or override Obama’s veto. What is the point?

So defund, defund, defund! Don’t let them buy a paperclip or a pencil to implement Obamacare.

Bachmann has more gits then 10 Cantors. She is the real deal as is Allan West, Issa and a few others in the House. Ben Quayle also looks promising.

Before Boehner and company start messing with the health care system, they should deal with a whole host of other things first. Maybe they should wait until 2012 before they start looking into the health care laws they want to enact.

House Speaker-to-be John Boeher’s office provided a more ambiguous answer. CNSNews.com asked via email: “Is John Boehner committed to having the House of Representatives hold a straight up-or-down vote on the complete repeal of Obamacare that does not tie that repeal to any other policy or initiative or seek to ‘replace’ Obamacare with some other type of health-care reform?”

“We have pledged to America that we will vote to repeal ObamaCare, and we will,” Boehner Spokesman Michael Steel responded by email.

“Yes, but will it be in a straight up-or-down vote that is not tied to any ‘replacement’ policies or anything else?” CNSNews.com asked, seeking clarification.

“We will have a vote to repeal ObamaCare. I can’t be any clearer than that,” said Steel via email.

CNSNews.com again asked: “But will it be an independent, stand-alone vote on repealing Obamacare in it’s entirety without in the same vote approving some other policy changes such as health-care reforms meant to ‘replace’ Obamacare?”

Boehner Spokesman Steel did not respond to this query.

I agree. They need to force a vote to repeal.

And I agree with others, that following that, the next step is to de-fund it.

In fact, de-funding should be the weapon of choice.

Does EPA want to police CO2? Defund them until everyone sees reason. Does the president really want to ban drilling? Defund the Energy Department until cooler heads prevail. Does FCC really want to police the internet? Do they really want Limbaugh to give equal time to some Democrat? Defund. Endowment for the Arts wants to pay for blasphemous junk with our money? They should be defunded just as a matter of course. In fact, that shouldn’t even be a ploy, it should be absolute and final. Corporation for Public Broadcasting? We shouldn’t be subsidizing Soros projects. Defund, absolutely and definitively.

Repubs who go weak in the knees should be noted for later disposal at the earliest opportunity.

Ummm, it may be political theater in outting, documenting, and hopefully blacklisting those who are against repealing Obamacare.

Furthermore, there is no reason why both courses of action cannot be taken.

The point is to rally the troops, generate enthusiasm, see where everyone stands, and terrify the enemy.

It’s good, it’s excellent, and may the new R majority House scare the s*** out of RINOS and Dems.

The election results of Nov2nd spelled out three major goals for the new GOP House. Hold the line on taxes, start to cut spending and have an up or down vote to repeal Obamacare.

Anything less and the new GOP leadership will be replaced.

Come on guys, this is the easy stuff. This is a stake in the ground with political consequences for each member.

It cannot pass the Senate or be signed, of course. But if the Republicans can’t shift themselves to pass a full-throated repeal of Socialism, we’ll go make a Third Party and put them out of business.

I agree with you in regard to offering "fixes" or "alternatives" to Obamacare. But the House should pass a straight-up total repeal bill on day one. One sentence. Repeal it all.

Pass this bill and send it to the Senate. Then do the same there. Let's get the 'Rats on record.

Obamacare must be repealed and it must be seen to be repealed. This starts now.

We pass a straight-up repeal in the House and force every Representative to take a side. (Then in 2012 we run against everyone who voted to retain Obamacare on this issue.)

We do the same in the Senate. Again all Senators must choose a side and run for re-election on their vote.

Then we defund and block Obamacare in every possible way between now and 2012.

In 2012 we run in all races (House, Senate, POTUS) on the platform that we will repeal Obamacare 100%.

I honestly don't know why you call this "political theater". It just seems like representative democracy to me.

Bachmann: ‘There Needs To Be an Insurrection’ Against GOP Leaders If They Don’t Hold Straight Vote to Repeal Obamacare

The Republican Party is suicidal if they don't fight Obamacare and The Dream Act. Either or both will ultimately push America's shaky financial situation over the edge. The GOP must apprise American taxpayers the link between Obama's buddy Soros and Assange's attorney, and the great giveaway of taxpayer dollars to resolve the debt of foreign nations, GE and McDonalds. It's time to take the gloves off with democrats.

No fiction writer could have dreamed this corrupt fantasy money-giveaway up.

This is the main purpose of the article, to create a caucus with a leader. The TEA Party has no leader, be careful here. Ms. Bachmann has to be careful, I hope she is not trying to hijack this thing.

Wait a minute, there are some provisions in the Health care Reform bill which are good. For example my college age kids are automatically covered on my policy until age 26. They can not afford policies of their own while full time students in college.

Your kids are full time students with no income through age 26? They can’t work to get enough income to support themselves 8 years into adulthood? I was on my parents plan though existing rules until I was out of undergrad and then I was on my own. At 24, any adult should be able to fend for themselves. With few health issues at that age an annual checkup and a cheap catastrophic policy is sufficient.

Better Michelle Bachman to be de facto leader of the TEA Party than FreedomWorks....the TEA PArty can forget it if they allow Dick Armey and his pro-Illegal Alien/Open Borders group to hijack the movement.

And Bachmann is right...lets have a straight-up vote. The object is to get those in the GOP on record to support overturning ObamaCare. Bachmann is just seperating the Conservatives from the RINOs

But if the Republicans can’t shift themselves to pass a full-throated repeal of Socialism, we’ll go make a Third Party and put them out of business.

Please stop to think about this statement. It sounds so good and powerful but in reality what does it really mean? If this would actually happen, it would mean the conservative movement would be so weakened it would cease to be effective at all.

We need clear thinkers hanging together to dislodge this creeping socialism--none of this knee jerk emotionalism. The fact is there simply will not be sufficient new bodies to empower any third-party movement with any chance at influence.

To identify the "stalwart RINOS" so they can be targeted in primaries next time they face election. Defunding is also a good and needed tactic, but the Bachmann's vote requirement is also good.

Repeal OBAMACARE in total.

2011 should be "the year of the long knives" for Republicans. They need to spend the year making deep cuts to leftist programs and eliminating as much of the useless bureaucracies as they can possibly eliminate. Go deep, cut deep, and send a message to Washington D.C. and their leftist parasites that they won't forget for 100 years.

A vote to repeal Obamacare will take place in the new GOP House. With the Dems still in operational control of the Senate, I doubt Reid&Company will allow a vote in that chamber of Congress. And lets not forget, Obama has the power of the veto pen.

The best Republicans in the House can do is not fund Obamacare. However, no one knows for sure how that process can be fully or partially accomplished at this point. Having said that, defunding is the ONLY option for the GOP House at this point to turn off the money for Obamacare.
