Cancun talks start with a call to the [dead Mayan] gods

Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, invoked the ancient jaguar goddess Ixchel in her opening statement to delegates gathered in Cancun, Mexico, noting that Ixchel was not only goddess of the moon, but also "the goddess of reason, creativity and weaving. May she inspire you -- because today, you are gathered in Cancun to weave together the elements of a solid response to climate change, using both reason and creativity as your tools."

"Excellencies, the goddess Ixchel would probably tell you that a tapestry is the result of the skilful interlacing of many threads," said Figueres, who hails from Costa Rica and started her greetings in Spanish before switching to English. "I am convinced that 20 years from now, we will admire the policy tapestry that you have woven together and think back fondly to Cancun and the inspiration of Ixchel."

These people are raving lunatics. Basket weaving and finger painting are the most they should be allowed to do.

Just my opinion of course.

Keep these pagans from getting any more U.S. taxpayer money. Let their fellow pagans support them.

If that’s what they’re into they should have held their meeting on the Big Island of Hawaii, said a prayer to Pele and swan dived into Kilauea.

Given what happened to the Mayans, maybe they should try something else.

Yeah, the UN members actually make the pagans in attendance look pretty sane.

So - I guess the next logical step is for them to endorse a human sacrifice in the Mayan fashion - IIRC they were the ones who cut the bleeding hearts out of their victims.

Mostly, the Mayans wrapped young girls in golden chains and dropped them into flooded Cenotes.

Most of us knew all along that these Gaia worshipers were just another freaky cult with the Communist Party pulling their strings. Anyone who chains their body to a tree just can’t be right in the head.

That's the ticket. Summon up some ancient demons to attach themselves to you and your project.

“Excellencies, the goddess Ixchel would probably tell you that a tapestry is the result of the skilful interlacing of many threads,” said Figueres”

She would also probably eat them too. She was the goddess of cannabalism. These people continually show their ignorance.

The answer to the question: “How do you know when multiculturalism has gone too far?”

Calling on dead Mayan gods to bless the Cancun talks is very appropriate, since the Cancun climate agenda and any useful agreement are DOA.

I think it's cute how we treat the jabbering simian hominids that cover the rest of the planet as peers.

It's suicidal on our part, but cute.

Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.

"Excellencies..."

EXCELLENCIES????

That's what they think of themselves to be - and we would be, in their plans, their serfs.

"The Spanish conqueror, Cortés, tells us about another place in Acalan where unmarried young women were sacrificed to a "goddess in whom they put great trust and hope", possibly again Ix Chel."

This Christiana Figueres is an amazing BSer, even for a liberal. You would think from her website that she was some kind of climate scientist, but her degree is in Anthropology, from the London School of Economics. Here's an example of one of her publications:

The paper then advocates for opening the CDM to policy-based, sector-wide project activities in order to catalyze much needed sectoral transformation through climate-protecting policies and measures in developing countries.

The UN routinely denies requests to sacrifice animals on the floor to stop droughts, famines and whatnot. The scary ones are the firstworlders who sit there listening to a jaguar or whatever invocation.
