Senate Republicans Reject Obama's Plan to Extend Tax Cuts for Middle Class Only
Fox News ^ | 4 December 2010

Senate Republicans on Saturday voted against extending the Bush tax cuts to only the middle class in a pair of votes Democrats are seizing to paint the GOP as guardians of the rich.

The Senate voted 53-36 to extend all expiring tax cuts on individuals with incomes of less than $200,000 a year and married couples making less than $250,000 -- seven shy of the required 60 to advance.

The other proposal, which drew opposition from White House officials, would have renewed them for all tax filers with incomes of $1 million or less. That also failed in a 53-36 vote.

HEADS UP!

Behind the scenes, the negotiation for tax cuts is throwing in the kitchen sink. Jobless benefit extension, more targeted stimulus to Democrat voters, etc.

AND THEY ARE TRYING TO BOOST THE DEBT CEILING LIMIT BEFORE THE TEA PARTY CAN STOP IT.

Do not let this happen.

There Is No Urgency For All These Matters. Instruct your GOP Congress critter to wait for the new Congress to get all these items addressed.

"We've got to extend the tax cuts for the middle class that are set to expire at the end of the month," he said. "If we don't, millions of middle-class families will see a big bite out of their paychecks starting January 1. And that's the last thing we should let happen."

Bull patties. The rush is to get something passed while the Dems still have control of the House and Senate (they will still have a majority of the Senate in January, but it will be much harder to overturn a Republican filibuster).

A better title would have been “Senate Republicans Vote Down Tax Cuts for Specially Selected Americans”

I think that if it is OK to say the wealthy should pay more, it should be OK to say minorities should pay more.....in my view, both are equally evil.

Invest in guillotines. Socialism ALWATS FAILS, always. It's not just a matter of when the US gov’t collapses, it's a matter of when. The sooner the better.

Why not just keep the tax cuts for All. This is the message. Those owning the businesses hire people. This debate is talk about a way to stop a recovery. The demonrats are at it again, spinning their lies.

USE LIMITS TO YOUR ADVANTAGE.

These things with expirations on them place the burden on the wrong side.

SO DO NOT LET THEM NEGOTIATE A DEBT CEILING INCREASE.

With the limit, Obamacare is destroyed automatically. Huge portions of unneeded spending is destroyed automatically.

JUST DON’T LET THAT BE PART OF THE NEGOTIATIONS. Boehner is trying to end run the new Congress.

The GOP is the opposition party. Their job is to oppose. If the majority Democrats can’t pass something, thats their fault.

It was only the Republicans that voted this down?

Malfeasance in the state run media.

This why I didn’t bother to vote last time. The republicans are not on our side either. We’re all a bunch of fools for thinking either party have the interest of average folks in mind.

They were tax cuts a decade ago. Now they are the prevailing rates. Raising any of them is a tax increase any way you spin it.

I saw some snake on Fox the other night claiming the democrats want tax cuts for everyone and by keeping the lowest rates where they are also benefits the rich since the first x$ they earn won’t be taxed any higher.

I’m sure that sounds logical and reasonably to millions of Fox viewers.
