Graham: GOP 'made some pretty poor choices' for Senate candidates this fal

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said that Republicans "made some pretty poor choices" in choosing their Senate candidates this fall.

Graham, in a Senate floor speech on Saturday, made an aside comment underscoring the frustration the GOP faced after some Tea Party-aligned nominees fell short in their campaigns.

"The House had a dramatic election. We picked up seats in the Senate," Graham said, video of which is posted by C-SPAN. "Some of us thought, maybe we could pick up two or three more, but we made some pretty poor choices when it came to candidates."

The South Carolina Republican made the comment as an aside to remarks about the consequences facing lawmakers who vote to allow an increase in taxes. Senate Democrats fell short of the necessary votes in a rare Saturday vote that would have allowed taxes go up on top earners.

Go Auburn.. Kick the GameCocks butts today..

What a waste of a party the GoP has become.. populated by hypocrits at the highest levels.

a couple more election cycles and Lindsay will give the voters a chance to get the next one there right.. until then, we have to listen to McCainiac and Grahamnesty telling us why we’re so bad for the country.. and how we should moderate our positions for the good of their sorry arses.

That "we" is you and the rest of the country club republicans.

This time conservatives stayed with conservatives and that is where they will stay.

You chose to personally not fund them and to publicly denounce them, your judgement Lindsey sucks.

Light in the Loafers Lindsey was emboldened when he was one of the few in the GOP to survive the 2006 and 2008 bloodbaths, he thinks he runs the party now.

My friends a few miles south in SC will remember all his betrayals in four years Plenty of good talent to replace him there.

How many times does someone have to post this reply:
SC has open primaries. Linseed was nominated in the primary and elected BY CROSSOVER DEMOCRATS. Unless the primary system is changed in SC, Graham will be re-elected in 2014 by those who want him in office: Democrats and RINOs.

Yes, you did. I hope you learned a lesson for next time, and instead of bad mouthing and pouting, you support the chosen candidates.

He has a point. IIRC, John McCain was a GOP candidate in 2010. ;)

This worthless POS calls himself a "Republican", he certainly ISN'T a conservative.

His comments came straight out of the same teleprompTer grab bag where the kenyan gets his GOP digs.

Our committment - as voters - was to "hold their feet to the fire"...well that didn't just mean "new" Senators and Congressmen, that meant ALL of them..."ALL of them" meaning Republicans AND democrats.

If you are an out of work American right now, then you DO have a job - your job is to be on the phone every single day to your congresscritters demanding that something be done about the job sitation and the obama tryanny.

Give yourself a break - use the mornings to send out Resume's...dozens of them. If you can't find a job ad, then find a website with a company you think you'd like to work for, or are qualified to work for, and send them a Resume' ANYWAY.

The more hooks you have in the water, the more likely you are to get a bite.

Then in afternoons dedicate yourself and your time to focusing on the @$$holes who KILLED ALL THE JOBS in the first place, the democrat controlled Congress.

It's past time to be nice, your family is having to DO WITHOUT so a kenyan can play king of the country.

Even if your unemployment has NOT run out yet...we now know that IT WILL.

The "producers" in this country WILL win the day, because the moocher class has no money without us, and our taxes.

I dont know, SC had a primary opponent to vote for in 08 and still choose Lindsey.

As much as I hate it, I'll betcha he is reelected. I'll be surprised if ole Ben Nelson (Nebr) doesn't get re elected after his sell out to ObamaCare. I know DeMint is on Bens case. Pls make him gone.

Wouldn’t it be great to see a Marco Rubio-like candidate challenge Grahamnesty next time? Show folks in SC what a real conservative looks like...

Graham must be referring to the GOP Elite’s choice of Charlie Crist to run for the Florida Senator slot.

RINO’s are worse than Leftists.

GO AWAY YOU BLATHERING DUNDERHEAD!
Well, one could say some brilliant choices were made and a few flops like re choosing Graham in 2008 and McCain and probably Murkowski this year.
But overall we are heading in the right direction
You only have four more years Grahamnesty...do you hear the hoof beats of the conservatives behind you...

I agree. In the House, you can go after people, but the Senate is so much more difficult. Just look at what Reid, Murray, and Boxer did in a wave year against them. I think this year proved that there are still people who would prefer to keep the status quo than change it.

Primaries mean something, Senator Graham.

Those "poor choices" as you put it became a reality this November due to your pet RINO candidates thumbing their noses at a highly ticked-off Conservative base.

I can’t say about that. But, I can say that the voters of south Carolina sure as hell made a bad choice when they elected Graham.
