Ultra right-wing to protest at Republican meeting

TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Dozens of ultra-conservatives plan to gather in Bartlesville Monday night to protest the Legislature's plan to focus more on the economy than on social issues.

The more conservative Republicans, including tea party members, want lawmakers to focus on abortion restrictions, immigration and fewer regulations on firearms. Republican leaders who will direct the agenda want to concentrate first on improving Oklahoma's struggling economy.

Charlie Meadows, with the Oklahoma Conservative Political Action Committee, said Monday he expects up to 200 protesters.

Meadows says Monday's gathering at the Bartlesville Community Center is a way to send a message to Republican lawmakers that voters don't want them to be "puppets on a string."

If the GOP wants to keep WINNING, they need to focus on promoting the free-market, winning the war on terror and promoting individual freedom. We need the independents on our side to help us win politically, and many of them are turned off by religious zealots. I’m being pragmatic. I want Obama to be out of the White House in 2012, and I want the Dems to be in a minority status for years to come. And we can’t accomplish this without the independent voters.

Personally, I think we should dump GUNS. Guns are the problem and if we dump guns we can actually *gain* votes.
Do you know how many people are put off by the conservative stance supporting guns? It’s amazing. People need to come before guns. Guns are just an albatross around our necks.

Exactly! A man after my own heart.

If we cultivate enough independents we’ll never lose!

So, how are you gonna pay for the consequences of those behaviors that you think “bible thumpers” should keep their nose out of?

How about we don't pay for them at all.

I'm guessing you hate the 2nd.

BTW, I suggest More Guns, Less Crime (ISBN 0-226-49364-4) for your home page list.

I'd love Mr. Lott's book to be your first listing........

I don’t want to wait that long to know that ObamieCommieCare is an unmitigated disaster. You don’t need to wait to see if a run-away train about to crash will be a disaster. ObamieCommieCare and his buddy Frankenstein Financial Reform must be destroyed now. Kill the Beast. Stop this rogue federal government from destroying the best health care and free economy in the world.

Define “religious zealots”. It sounds HORRIBLE! They must BE horrible!

Seriously, what do these horrible “religious zealots” want to do? Be specific.

Then, tell me why a nation that professes at a rate of about 80-90% to have Christian values would be opposed to these HORRIBLE “zealous” things that these terrible people want to do to our country.

What, exactly, is “ultra-right wing”? Is that like a “Vast Right Wing Conspiracy?

I suspect it’s the Ma and Pa who never say anything and never complain and are the backbone and get-things-doners of this nation. More power to them and may the Ruling Class croak.

Only the brain dead liberal media would characterize protecting borders and defending 2nd Amendment rights as being ultra-right wing.

And being against abortion has been part of the GOP platform for decades.

Further, I actually know a lot of liberals and moderates who want a protected border, want to keep their firearms, and are against abortion also.

The Left is saying that Obamacare doesn’t go far enough and isn’t single payer only. Barack is on record saying that private insurance will go away even if it takes 20 years to get there.

The Left pretends they don’t get their agenda accomplished incrementally.

Read my profile page quote from Ronald Reagan around 1960 to realize that nothing has changed on “their goal”.

And it isn’t “racism” that made people oppose his plan. They opposed it when Ted Kennedy and when Hillary Clinton proposed it as well decades earlier.

Some people are stupid.

Populism is what the liberals are all about. Conservatism (should be) about standing for what's right. Bearing arms is a constitutional right as a form of self defense.

If you don’t have someone pay for the consequences of behavior, then it’s as if the person choosing that behavior isn’t really free to choose that behavior.

Now what kind of “socially liberal” position is that?

I think you either need a /sarc tag or a different forum.

Unless you forgot a sarc tag, you don’t belong here. You may be a republican, but you are no conservative.

I know that's supposed to be English but I can't for the life of me figure out what it's supposed to mean.

How about we let adults make their own choices and at the same time make them pay for the consequences of those choices instead of running a Welfare State on Steroids.

I'm sick and tired of paying to babysit people. Unless it's prison for a crime of force or fraud, or course.

Guns are just an albatross around our necks.

Well, the whole "Guns, Gays, and God" crowd seems not to realize that all of their priorities are much more achievable when government power remains strictly limited.

Conservatives should put up a unified front in asking, "What power should the government be allowed? " about every single issue. But too many of us are closet statists, thinking that maybe all those Federal Police aren't so bad if they are being used for something we approve of.

The bad guys are getting worse and the good guys' lights are shining brighter. The end is coming soon.

The left seems to be the main home of the spirit of anti-Christ and is waxing so grievous that their REAL hero will soon be here. That would be the coming world ruler, "The Beast", coming soon on the world stage to do his magic tricks and kill millions (billions) of people. The battle between left and right will have morphed to a battle literally between good and evil, God and Satan.

This is just a preview of these coming attractions.
