Members of a bipartisan group of lawmakers called the Congressional Prayer Caucus want to make sure President Obama knows the country's national motto.
Forty-one Republicans and one of the five Democrats from the caucus sent a letter to the president asking him to correct a mistake he made during a speech last month in Jakarta, Indonesia when he said -- quote -- "In the United States, our motto is E Pluribus Unum -- out of many, one."
The lawmakers point out the official national motto -- approved by Congress in 1956 -- is "In God We Trust." The letter calls it -- quote -- "a disservice to the people you represent."
Caucus leaders also point out President Obama's omission of the word "creator" on more than one occasion when quoting from the Declaration of Independence.

With all his mistakes, how did he ever get elected? He obviously is not American.
I know why he got elected.
The funny thing, though, is that a lot of Americans probably don’t care if he gets it wrong.
The only thing that matters to them is that they want a black person to be president. They wanted to make history. My sister is one of them and even told me she voted this way.
Maybe they didn’t officially vote to make it a national motto.
But in March of 1931 they did vote to make the Star Spangled Banner the national anthem. **Including verse four***.

Of course, i’ll give Obama a break. You see, when i was in 5th grade, i went to a school in Texas where we all learned it by heart,,, all four verses. To be fair, they probably didn’t do that at his Muslim school in Indonesia. And his commie momma sure didn’t teach him,,,
But, I believe it appears in texts even earlier than that....I just have to remember where..

I think you are correct. I think Key was including something that people already recognized by 1814. I don’t believe he was coining the phrase, and deciding that this would become our motto. That would have been pretty arrogant, considering he was writing without the knowledge of how widely his work would be known.

I’d bet you a paycheck that he has never heard the entire song in his life,,, (unless it was as a class play where the song was played as someone stomped on the flag while reciting quotes from Chairman Mao,,,)
I have to take care of an AD patient so I don’t have a lot of time but it would be fun to create a list of all the Obamaisms..you know like the liberal skanks did for Bush..all of his mistakes in speaches...get em lined up for the 2012 election cycle to prove this skunk in the WH is no American.
