House Democrats defy Obama on tax cut bill

(CNN) - Defying President Obama, House Democrats voted Thursday not to bring up the tax package that he negotiated with Republicans in its current form.

"This message today is very simple: That in the form that it was negotiated, it is not acceptable to the House Democratic caucus. It's as simple as that," said Democratic Congressman Chris Van Hollen.

"We will continue to try and work with the White House and our Republican colleagues to try and make sure we do something right for the economy and right for jobs, and a balanced package as we go forward," he said.

The vote comes a day after Vice President Biden made clear to House Democrats behind closed doors that the deal would unravel if any changes were made.

The vote also come less than an hour after Obama himself urged Congress to pass the compromise he struck with GOP leaders earlier this week and warned that failing to do it could cost jobs.

"There is an important debate on Capitol Hill that will determine in part whether our economy moves backward or forward," Obama said at an Export Council meeting. "The bipartisan framework we have forged on taxes will not only protect working Americans from seeing a major tax increase on January 1, it will provide businesses with incentives to invest, grow, and hire."

For all the moonbats who will scream at the take-home in Janaury, you know who to thank.

And it will just be a temporary increase in January, as long as it eventually passes then. Once it passes, withholding will be reduced to compensate.

Ohhhh...you are so correct!

And, to be honest, I’m thinking that people NEED to FEEL the impact of the Democrat policy...in order to truly and completely reject it.

Good. No deal with Rats who have been thrown out of the House.

We get power on Jan. 2 and can do what is right for the American people. We have much stronger bargaining power on Jan. 2.

Although I really thought this would go through, this is good news. Now Paul Ryan will write the new tax cut bill (he will head that committee, correct).

This also means that if the Senate dems filibuster that new bill, they will carry the label of "raised taxes the highest amount in history on the middle class", and they won't be able to deny it!

These people want something. I’m thinking a tax credit.

They want the inheritance tax raised to 55% as per anthony weener. I heard a blip from Lord dog nuts (d) Austin, just as I got back into the office. He basically said "No way, jose".

I was near to concluding yesterday that the democrat rejection of the plan was part of the real plan that Obama has with his minions.

Yes! We have a winner.

The current mess must be completely burned to the ground and the people that vote for these nimrods need to feel the impact of the disastrous policies.

That happening is the only possible way to open people’s eyes and have them change their ways.

My take is that this is more kabuki theater. After the far left extremists in the democrat party are done with their tantrum, enough of them will cave and vote for the compromise.

It hasn’t been defeated in a floor vote, they just blocked it from coming to the floor. That barrier will be removed once enough of them defect to follow their party leadership, which is now dancing the tune played by Republicans.

After the 2010 tsunami, do you really think there are any Democrats left in any districts that are remotely winnable?

They risk nothing. Left wing positions can’t lose those districts and anything but a left wing position WILL lose them.

None of this matters. Just refuse all Debt Ceiling Increases and the earthquake begins.

It would be good for all Americans to see their taxes go up if the Bush tax cuts expire since the media has been feeding the public the wrong info....that only those making over $250K will see an increase. Wait until the little guy sees his increase and then it will hit the fan. Then the Republicans can come in and save the day, again.

House Democrats just voted for a 50% tax increase on those whose earnings fall in the 10% bracket range. I am sticking to that synopsis in informing my pesky collectivists family members ASAP.

Last time I checked the Senate would still be under Rat control. Do you seriously believe that we could get enough defectors to make the cuts permanent?

The Dems are basically raising taxes on every American with a job.

Even I didn’t think they were this stupid.

Well, most of the people who vote for the Dems have no jobs.
