Volunteers download attack tool, organizers recruit hacker botnets, say researchers

Computerworld - The retaliatory attacks by pro-WikiLeaks activists are growing in strength as hackers add botnets and thousands of people download an open-source attack tool, security researchers said today.

In recent days, distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks have been launched against several sites, including those belonging to Amazon, MasterCard, PayPal and the Swiss payment transaction firm PostFinance, after each terminated WikiLeaks accounts or pulled the plug on services.

As of Thursday, WikiLeaks had posted the full text of more than 1,200 leaked U.S. State Department cables from its trove of over 250,000 messages.

THe /b/tards are hitting the frontend of visa mastercard paypal etc.

UNless these little script kiddies go after the servers that run the APIs for merchant processors and CC VARs, this attack is all hat and no cattle.

TO attack the APIs becomes a Federal Offense with really severe penalties if found guilty.

Again, all hat and no cattle.

I prefer shooting on sight.

Does that apply to the Gitmo people? Does it apply to the 800 terrorists we have had to let go in Afghanistan? Does it apply to the criminals w3ho are breaking into homes all over the country?

Or are you just blowing wind?

O-Bozo needs to order the U.S. Military Cyber Command to Attack all the scum followed up by deploying the appropriate LEO/CIA/S.F./Delta Force to capture & send to GITMO all the scum!

You have to be kidding. The Great Zero would not dare infringe on the feelings of these people. He would rather bow to Muslims.

And besides sending them to Gitmo might cause the current residents there to have their feelings hurt when some non-muslims are associating with them.

I'd view that as a Bonus for the War On Terror.

No, the best is yet to come.

When Assange and his running dog lackeys targeted the factory that makes my insulin as a critical resource to be taken out someday he actually endangered my life.

People who come forward and support Assange become, in my personal opinion, fair targets for similar treatment.

To the degree Google.com can make archival copies of what they had to say, I think they could be tracked down and hurt really bad.

Not sure that's what they intended ~ but that's what they'll get for this sort of nonsense.

Anyone have any neat ideas for how I might hurt them ~ and not just torture ~ I've got that part down pat. Something a bit more clever and permanent ~ make OTHERS back off from this stuff.

They need to find a few of them hanging from lampposts, on the end of a Cat 5 cable.

I’m not laughing, because this is a planned liberal attack using Assange...to give Obama (NWO) the control of the internet, and we will not be able to use it freely. Free Republic will be shut down, along with many conservative sites in the future.
Then you will need to be submitted to ‘net neutrality’ in order to use the internet, IF THE FCC GETS THEIR WAY.
The State Dept is behind this RELEASE of Classified documents, and KOH ...Obama’s appointee needs to be checked out...he believes in International Law, Sharia Law for the USA>..this Wikileaks is just a TOOL OF THE LEFT TO ACCOMPLISH WHAT THEY WANT TO ACCOMPLISH, PERIOD!
SMOKE AND MIRRORS.

I'd call it Willful Dereliction of Duty at the very minimum.

Agreed...at the VERY minimum. That doesn't shock me, though. What does is that not even conservative talk radio is making much of it. I really don't know why Obama is getting a near total pass on this potentially very dangerous situation.

I fail to see how this is any different from blowing up highways and bridges. These hackers are trying to stop the movement of goods and services. It’s time to declare these hackers terrorists and enemies of America.

are ignoring it

ignoring - or behind it - to create chaos.

chaos = martial law = Republican Congress does not get seated = Congress 'dead" for 6 months = U.S. dead

Too bad we can’t use the Redress of Wrongs Article of the UCMJ and file charges against them.

And while some protest how difficult it actually would be to create trouble for the big guys (Amazon, MasterCard etc.) — and that involves some rather large assumptions over time — the fact remains that “death by a thousand paper cuts” is a method.

The overall point is that there a lot of lessons to learned from this episode, at a whole bunch of levels.

Facial branding, like the British did in the 1700s. Or the similar Bowie-knife procedure shown in Inglorious Basterds.
