A last name is really not to a person’s fault or credit; in most circumstances one is born to (or marries into) a surname. Lots of fun in researching people’s last names, and when they received them, but that is another topic, for another day.
David Frum is not a bad fellow. I have met him and he is quite nice, and very smart. As to his political leanings, or his conclusions, they differ a bit from a conservative stance.

Over the years there have been a fair number of NR staffers who have gone off the rails, including members of the Buckley family. The magazine has never enforced a party line, so long as someone is still in the conservative movement. They have never hinted that they regret publishing anything these folks wrote for them. These folks include Brent Bozell, Jr., Christopher Buckley, Garry Wills, Joan Didion, Jeffrey Hart, David Frum, and numerous lesser lights.
It is much the same here at FR, with rather more restrictions, as is the owner’s right. When you have done 1% as much as NR for the conservative movement, I will be interested in whom you want to write off.
Besides, no one has followed a man as short as Frum since Napoleon.
That explains the speech policing disease he has taken up. Gay issues are what threw him into this insanity.

I don’t think anyone considers Frum or Chrissy Buckley to be a part of the conservative movement. I find it hard to consider someone a part of the conservative movement who is continually attacking that movement.
Wow .... Obama *is* the Manchurian Candidate.
Frum used to do good work, until he apparently became unhinged over Obama’s election (he had been getting weaker for some time before that). Chris Buckley had been tolerated for his dad’s sake, and his abilities as a writer. His support for Obama ended that.

How stupid is this?
I remember before the elections in 2008 that it was found that the cellphones Michelle and Obama used were registered under the Communist Party of America (CPA) out in San Fransisco.
And when it became apparent that Obama was going to become POTUS they were discarded and was shushed up.
Another FReeper didn’t believe what I was talking about, but since recently that Obama seems to be falling faster than a terminal ballistic object I just thought I should bring this back to light.
