From Audacity to Animosity
Wall Street Joiurnal ^ | December 10, 2010 | Peggy Noonan

We have not in our lifetimes seen a president in this position. He spent his first year losing the center, which elected him, and his second losing his base, which is supposed to provide his troops. There isn't much left to lose! Which may explain Tuesday's press conference.

President Obama was supposed to be announcing an important compromise, as he put it, on tax policy. Normally a president, having agreed with the opposition on something big, would go through certain expected motions. He would laud the specific virtues of the plan, show graciousness toward the negotiators on the other side—graciousness implies that you won—and refer respectfully to potential critics as people who'll surely come around once they are fully exposed to the deep merits of the plan.

As much as anyting else, I've posted this to show how poor, dear Peggy's gradually recovering from the Obamagaz. Even though she doesn't say it, she clearly makes the point that, politically, the Illegal's dumber than a bag of rocks. Eqally important, even if the leftists vote for him in 2012, there's just not going to be the enthusiasm level there was in 2008.

The bent, rusted, creaking old weathervane is just shifting as the wind changes.

Peggy lost me in 2008 when she couldn’t say enough nasty things about Sarah Palin...and gushed over Obama like he was a teen heartthrob!

She’s drunk too much of the DC water and is far too interested in making sure the talking heads like her.

Most people get more conservative as they get older - in the Beltway, it always seems to go the other way! I guess living in a bubble causes brain damage!

Noonan was not only a cheerleader for Barry but she also eagerly voted for him. With political ‘smarts’ like that I'm not inclined to pay much attention to her opinions. She's a blind pig who might find an occasional acorn. Where was she when it mattered? She still has PDS, too.
