Some would say this is political correctness run amok
A painted plywood cut-out of Santa with a cowboy hat and a gun on his belt is causing quite a stir in the town of Turlock.
The Santa is one of many displays that line a Christmas tree lot. Workers said they have been using the same cowboy Santa display for 20 years and have never had a compliant until now.
A woman named Monica Sliva didn't like the idea of Santa packing heat so she asked them to take it down. I tried to get the image out of my head all day long and I could not, because Santa is made for love, bringing families together, not carrying weapons, Sliva told KCRA.
Sliva confronted the workers at the tree lot telling them it sends the wrong message to children.
It portrays to the kids that its OK for Santa to be carrying a gun and therefore its OK for them to be carrying a gun, Sliva said.
I think its pretty crazy, to tell you the truth, Bobby Vierra said. I mean, we're just trying to sell trees out here.
When commotion over the display caused traffic to back up, workers covered the gun on Santa's belt. The display was then temporarily taken down.
Vierra said he feels the attention is unfair. "It's just a Santa," he said. "You know, it's just a cowboy."
But just before closing time the display was put back up, his gun still covered. The owner said he has done nothing wrong, so Santa is back. --KCRA.com
Why doesn’t anyone ever tell people to piss off?
Its what I would do and have done before. Busybodies need to piss the F off.
Monica Silva needs to get herself a life.
What absolute nonsense.
A gunbelt on Santa is just wrong;goes against the public image of Santa of over a hundred years.
If your not being sarcastic, then piss off!!!
I think she needs to be handed a copy of the Butthurt Report.
Obviously she was traumatized by something she didn’t have to look at in the first place.
If she wants to make a scene then have the cops take her away and put her on a 5150 hold. Give her 72 hours to find a good shrink.
Just my opinion of course.
She can’t get the image out of her mind. So because she’s apparently obsessive/compulsive......
It IS okay for Santa to carry a gun. After all, how else is he supposed to fend off characters like Heat Miser, the Snow Miser, the ASbominable Snowman and the Winter Warlock?
If someone is going to be carrying around a lot of valuables late a night, they probably need a gun.
Like all aspects of liberalism,
they make normal people have to suffer because of their mental issues.
If it’s just a santa and not a cowboy like the guy said, why the cowboy hat and gun?
Alos, the bandanna around his neck.
Tell them to piss off!
Open carry invites criticism ,incites the fearful, and is an invitation to attack. The bad guys are likely to target you to take the weapon;and certainly you will be the first shot if the bad guys see you.
On the other hand,if you don't feel the need to show off, then your gun is there in the concealed holster when you need it to defend yourself or others, yet no one need be alarmed by your presence.
First got CCW permit in 1988.I do believe all have the right to carry but I am not yet willing to spend my time ,money, and freedom fighting the well-established laws by myself.
An obviously armed Santa is not something I ever saw in half a century of books, movies,TV,posters, or department stores.
Libs offended yet again....in other news, water is wet.
Sounds like Monica Silva is afraid of long, hard things.
What would Freud say?
"Vierra said he feels the attention is unfair. "It's just a Santa," he said. "You know, it's just a cowboy."
He didn't say it wasn't a cowboy.
