The last election seems to have slowed the gun rush.

Aside from the AR marketplace is very over saturated.

Theres nowhere for business to go but up in Maine. Forbes magazine recently rated the state as the worst in the country for business owners. Number 50!

Maine's government will soon be run by Republicans - Most Tea Party Republicans - first time since the mid 1960s. They'll make a difference lead by newly elected Gov Paul LaPage - that is one no BS Mainer. He is the type of Conservative who makes Liberal heads explode!

The entire gun market is down. The shop next door to where I work may close from lack of business.

Yep.
I was helping my brother select his first AR, when we found out that a grade school friend of mine started his own AR manufacturing and sales company. He was a major supplier to three or four license holders, when he decided to get into the business himself.

He’s the only EDM (Electrical Discharge Manufacturing) builder of AR lowers, and they’re much nicer than the standard-milled lowers I see by other manufacturers.

The standard AR is moving well past the point of being just a ‘pattern gun’ and is now a commodity.

Sad to see it happen, but it was probably unavoidable when you consider that everyone and his brother is now making an "AR" based weapon at lower costs... I mean look at it - Bushmaster, DPMS (Panther Arms), and Remington, all owned by the same company, all making an AR. Something like this was going to happen.

Advise to the soon-to-be unemployed Bushmaster employees: Get yourselves some investors and start making the original Bushmaster Bullpup weapon again... (And I don't meanthe later version that used the extruded aluminum receiver - that one wasn't up to the task.)

Great advise Raven. Opportunity knocks when we least expect it. Who will answer the door?

Well, let’s get those prices down. If you can’t out sell them out price them.

The article seems to imply that mfg is being relocated elsewhere as opposed to the Bushmaster line being shut down. Too bad but Maine is a horrible place for business. And, probably the libs in Portland are happy than an evil gun mfg has been forced out of the state.

Hopefully the new conservative GOP leadership in Maine will make a difference. Long road ahead though.

I get the impression that Bushmaster is moving out of Maine. Shame but Collins and Snowe are RINO scum.

I bought my AR the day I realized bama was likely to win. A bushmaster. Never a problem ever. Great weapon.

Bush’s fault!

Actually, Obama's fault! His failure to take the lead in pushing unpopular gun-control legislation has not only earned him a 'F' grade from the Brady Bunch but it has cost Americans jobs as well!

My BM XM-15 20” A3 HBAR has run without any failures since I bought it 5 yrs ago. This is sad news.

The wife’s house weapon is a sixteen inch Bushmaster upper on a (self assembled) Oly Arms lower. Zero problems with either.

But I do think that the Bushmasters are over priced.
