Skip to comments.Q&A: Sarah Palin on Obama and Her Own Future
Posted on 12/10/2010 5:53:03 PM PST by Al B.
The following are excerpts from a series of e-mails between TIME's Jay Newton-Small and Sarah Palin as the former Alaska Governor crisscrossed the country for candidates and then for her book tour over the last six weeks.
What do you think of Obama's presidency thus far?
Two words: Jimmy Carter.
Can a Republican beat him in 2012 and, if so, who?
Yes, someone who will draw a sharp contrast. Obama is now a very polarizing figure. In the battleground states, he's polling at 40% or below. The country is rejecting his agenda.
Why do you think you can beat Barack Obama?
In 2012, Barack Obama will have what he did not have in 2008: a record in office. Americans have seen over the past two years what that record is and what he really stands for. My vision of America is diametrically opposed to his. He sees America as the problem. I see America as the solution if only our creative energy, ingenuity, and entrepreneurial spirit were not shackled and stymied by government. He believes in radical transformation to move us in the direction of the failed ideologies that so many of our allies in Europe are now trying to shake off as they face economic turmoil. I believe in restoration of the time-tested principles of the free market and individual liberty that have historically made us free and prosperous and peaceful and strong as "the abiding beacon of freedom" and "the last best hope of earth" that Reagan and Lincoln called us.
If you won the presidency what would be the first things you'd do in office?
The first priority of the next Republican president should be to sign a bill for the repeal and replacement of Obamacare with true free-market, patient-centered reform.

“Shes likely disgusted and still laughing at obamas abdication today...lol.”
I’m still stunned. At one point, Bubba bit his lip ... it reminded me of the Ron Brown funeral clip when he was joking around, realized he was on camera and went into his lip biting sincere act. The man is .... well ... you know.
Sarah will win both the Republican primary, and the Presidency in landslides.
She will also have on her coattails, almost 60 more new House members coming into office along with 15 new Senators.
Sarah Palin will have a super majority in both houses and she will have this country zipping by adding 20 million new jobs within her first two years in office.
By 2014 when the mid terms come, she will increase her majority in both the Senate and the house, where as the Democrat party will be nothing more than a byword in the political discussion, because a new leftist Socialist party will have emerged as a bigger influence than the Democrat party, but it too will be a minority that even joining the democrats will not be able to stop her from rolling to a second landslide victory in 2016.
Take that to the bank, and double down. It is now in God’s hands and she is his sword, like Deborah was in Judges to the Canaanites, Sarah will be to the Democrats..
The land was also taken from Barak and given to Deborah! GO SARAH!!!
I just read the Q/A. and I ‘ll say this Sarah has already made the decision to run. The way the question were ask and answered were more concrete than I’ve head or read from Sarah. Sarah has thought this out to the point of having a vision of America and why she will be “drafted” to run.
It looks like we are at the point of Where, when and how an announcement will be made. I know the where it will be the Bob and Mark show in AK? Now it’s just when.
I just hope Sarah drops the “I don’t need a title to make a difference” statement. It was nice to read the article and not see it.
From your lips (keyboard) to God’s ears.
I’ve got to give her credit, that was good. Just the right tone.
It was the last question and I think her segment ended on that.
Todd had described Sarah previous to her answers. I will have to review the segment to tell you what her said, because he used full sentences (almost), not just three words.
YES! And Arizona has already passed such a law.
This should be all that is needed to keep oblunder from running in 2012 since we know he’ll never produce what he’s spending millions to hide.
Since the President represents all 50 states, all 50 states must have him on their ballots.
Yeah, I know. I would have to swear in order to properly describe what I truly think of Clinton.
Oh yes, she is running. That’s a given. When she said she was looking at the lay of the land -— she really meant, that she was looking “at the lay of the land (her chances) and also at the other possible candidates and there are none.”
I like! I also like her very 1st sentence about the “record”
What puzzles me is this: Is she waiting for a time to bring out the big guns or is she not addressing the issue of calling Obama a socialist? She states that her ideas are diametrically opposed but why not use the “s” word?
> “Take that to the bank, and double down. It is now in Gods hands and she is his sword, like Deborah was in Judges to the Canaanites, Sarah will be to the Democrats”
Only if we rise up in prayer, and challenge the Lord as Abraham did over Sodom.
> “and there are none.
Kind of sad, but so true.
There is not one candidate that can legitimately challenge her.
It's surprising that it was done by Time, may wonders never cease. She nailed each question, and made clear distinctions in conservative ideology (hers) and Obama's, and why her ideas would work better.
An excellent interview. One the best I’ve seen with Sarah, so far.
Picking up on the general tone of the interview, there’s little question that she’s running. The interviewer’s questions actually seem to take that fact for granted, and Sarah (although cleverly not coming right out and saying it) doesn’t really dodge the implication.
She has stated on a few occasions that if no other qualified conservative seeks the nomination, she’ll run. I think it’s become apparent that there isn’t another conservative that can match her total package of accomplishment and conservative credentials.
I believe that she will run, and that she will be elected president in 2012.
God speed, Sarah Palin.
Good read. Thanks for the post. BTTT.
I think the correct term is....”From your keyboard to God’s in box.....”
