A Bridgeton man was arrested Friday night when an 82-year-old homeowner fired a shot at the tire on two burglars' pickup to keep them from fleeing, according to Delaware State Police. No one was hurt.
It happened Friday at 10:35 a.m. at a home on Chapman Road in Newark, De. Police said the son of the homeowner saw two men taking a generator and other items from the yard of the home and putting them in the bed of a pickup truck.

In Newark, New Jersey, the 82 year old homeowner would have been arrested.
That last sentence sort of spoils it for me, though.
The homeowner was not charged.
Pulling a stunt like that at 1030 AM is kind of foolish.
Well, in this case, it was foolish anyway.
Guess the ‘new breed’ of criminal figures it is to dangerous to work at night.
