YMCA axes Santa Claus for Frosty - (NYC)
NY Post ^ | Dec. 12, 2010 | SUSANNAH CAHALAN and CYNTHIA R. FAGEN

He's a lost Claus.

A politically correct West Village YMCA has fired Ol' St. Nick in favor of Frosty.

Kids who once thrilled at sitting on Santa's lap at the 14th Street McBurney YMCA's wildly popular annual holiday luncheon will now suffer the icy embrace of a talking snowman and his sidekick, an anonymous penguin, at today's event.

Forget about bringing a list or checking it twice -- Frosty doesn't take gift requests, and doesn't care if you're naughty or nice.

YMCA officials, who say they are in the midst of "rebranding" the Young Men's Christian Association to "The Y," defended their decision.

My guess is the only people offended were the sh**heads at the main office of the YMCA.

You really gotta laugh at these atheists who have no idea what Christmas or Christianity is about, and are not shy about demonstrating their ignorance. They apparently think they are sanitizing the religion out of Christmas by getting rid of Santa Claus. I don’t remember Santa Claus at the Nativity. Next they will tell us we’ve gotta get rid of the Easter Bunny.

It hasn’t been that in years since it’s been high-jacked by liberal secularists.

It’s time to remove the word Christian from their title, and just be the Young Men Secular Association...Frosty the Snowman is an insult to people’s intelligence. Of course, they would want something that disappears, when things heat up.

John Rappaport, executive director of the McBurney YMCA. "We realized that change is sometimes good, and that Frosty is a great winter character who would appeal to a broader number of kids."

Yeah, I can tell this guy wasn't hired for his brains. A snowman would appeal to a broader number of kids than a fat, jolly guy who gives out presents.

As a Jew this makes me sick, because I know that secular, gay, JINOs (Jews-In-Name-Only) like Mr. Rappaport are behind this. I think we should start a petition to demand that the Chicago YMCA HQ strip the “YMCA” and “Y” names from the McBurney cabal, and sue them if they try to use it again. Let them call themselves the “YGLBTQSHA” (Young GLBTQ Secular Humanist Association).

YMPCA.

When I lived in Lakeland, FL I used the Y everyday.

It had a couple of whirlpools along with a wet and dry sauna in the men’s locker room. Which I used every time I was there.

Then we started having gay men hitting on us. In response to the complaints, the Y closed everything but the showers, toilets and lockers in the men’s bathing facilities. They claimed that, out of the blue, these facilities were some sort of legal liability. When I asked why the pools, the weight room and the basketball court were so much safer, I could not get an answer.

I flat out told them that I know it was complete BS. That they were too cowardly to deal with the real problem. I demanded and received my membership dues for the balance of that year.

I get so fed up with the responsible people in this country being penalized for the behavior of a small minority. This is the same approach all of our public institution take in response to problems.

Our society is ruled by bullying cowards.

The "Y" tried to pull a fast one on the city of Aurora Indiana and sell property at a huge profit which had been turned over to them for the express and limited purpose of a health club facility.

The city successfully recovered the property.

The "Y" as it exists today ought to be shunned and closed.

They operate tax FREE in our state. Is it that way everywhere? Around here, the YMCA’s are Taj-Mahal gyms in affluent communities and paying 0 taxes on the membership dues. Time to tax the Y. They are not Christian, religious, or charitable. They should be forced to compete in the marketplace fair and square. If the government wants to give access to gyms to poor people they can just give them gym credits to use anywhere or to purchase gym equipment. Tax the Y!

Don't mention it. Religious Jews stand with our Christian brothers and sisters. I personally view any expansion of Christian influence as vital to our nation and to Western Civilization. I went to sing Christmas carols in NJ a few years back with Steve Lonegan just to stick it to the humanists. I would love to organize a Jewish Caroling group to confuse the crap out of the media and end this madness.

YMCA axes Frosty The Snowman after complaints from the "U.N. Conference On Man-made Climate Change".

UN officials complained that Frosty perpetuates stereotypes and sends the message that man-made climate change is not to be take seriously.

A YMCA spokesperson said Frosty will be replaced by "The Great Winter Solstice Pumpkins", a duo of gay and lesbian pumpkins.

In my opinion, looking at these "youth" focused/oriented organizations e.g. YMCA, YWCA, Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts etcetera. I think it is only the Boy scouts that have nor been infiltrated and co-opted by the leftist progressives...

The "re-branding" that the "Y" does is like the re-branding of ACORN -lipstick on a leftist pig...

I don’t remember Santa Claus at the Nativity.

Lots of other folks weren't there too including Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Suggest you read up on "St. Nicholas" and his transition from Greek Νικόλαος ο Θαυματουργός through the Dutch Sinterklaas to our Santa Claus. Most thoroughly Christian.

Though it's in a way an embarrassment that, more and more every Advent season, I'm told how much I look like Santa Claus. Small children now regularly see me that way -- boarding a recent flight a little girl lit up and excitedly waved at me; what could I do but smile and wave back?

Hm. Maybe they'll eventually try to ban me.

Santa Claus was a saint, but I don’t think he has much to do with the real meaning of Christmas. Particularly among Protestants.

St. Nicholas is still honored amongst us Anglo-Catholics and others, as a Greek bishop who became the original (model for) Santa Claus. And there is more to the tradition tied to him than what Wikipedia posts. One could say he is among the "accretions" -- but "real meaning of Christmas" is a definition so much left to the reader and thus completely meaningless that one can take any position and declare himself the definer. Until the next definer comes along.

If you don't think Santa Claus has much to do with the "real meaning of Christmas," in most part I agree with you (because Christmas is foremost the celebration of the birth of Jesus) and in part I reserve judgment -- because it all depends (again) upon the definition of the "real meaning of Christmas," a term for which you will not find agreement across what is externally viewed as Christianity.

In secular America Santa Claus has become pretty much divorced from Christianity, if not completely. IMHO the "Young Mens' C(an't say what we are, if we even are that anymore, and why are you asking?) Organization" is being stupid.
