Rather readies his version (continuing lies - Bush Nat'l Guard spectacle)
NYPost ^ | 12-12-10

*snip*

Rather confided to writer Gregory Speck, "Until now I never fully understood the power of the forces behind my axing from the anchor post at CBS News several years back, simply for speaking the truth about George Bush's questionable National Guard service."

Rather was fired in 2006 for claiming Bush had received preferential treatment in the Guard in the early '70s using questionable memos as evidence.

He tells Page Six he'll set the record straight in his book due this spring,

The only way he can do that is by coming clean regarding his own lies, which apparently continue; as an alternative to that, he could say the memos were bogus and blame it on the pertinent erstwhile staff; best thing for him to do would be to ice himself on national TV. I'd buy the tape.

The "forces" arrayed against him were the many millions of Americans who saw through his tissue of lies. Thanks STARWISE.

The pathetic old buzzard is being cagey about what he has to divulge in hopes of making people buy his book. I wonder if he'll use the term "larger truth."

Bet a dollar dan’s reading these remarks today.

Hey dan, nobody cares what you think or say. Your a liar.
You were found to be a liar, not just here but also the people you worked for said you were a liar, the American people when presented with the fact's found you to be a liar.

Good luck on that book. Maybe you can get the presidential liar bill clinton to write the forward

“Until now I never fully understood the power of the forces behind my axing from the anchor post at CBS News several years back, simply for speaking the truth about George Bush’s questionable National Guard service.”

It’s very simple really, spoof writing belongs on SNL not CBS News. Good spoofs increase SNL’s ratings and revenue; bad spoofs and nobody watches. Ratings and revenues decline.
False reporting on CBS News leads to lower ratings, lower revenue, lower market share etc...
Shame on CBS for letting this stuff even air, but, Danny Boy, you cut your own throat.

It’ll be appropriate for gas station rest room libraries.

Dan pooped in his own pants and wants to blame President Bush for the doodie.

He is truly a delusional man if he believes he can wish upon a star to make the memos anything but fake.

If only typewritten memos didn't look like this in the early '70's...and looked like this, instead.

I just read this and found it to be a pretty good re-telling of the story.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killian_documents_controversy

It lays out the time-line, and provides a lot of detail about the various document experts. (It mentions Free Republic.)

...and Mary Mapes come off as pathetic figure hopelessly claiming to this day that no one has proved the documents to be false...sad.

It is hard to believe Rather is still in denial. He is mentally ill, period. A sane person by now would realize they were had.

Leftism truly is insanity.

I can’t believe that this pitiful old useless idiot is being trotted out again. Get him some counseling to deal with his humiliating defeat, and let him fade into obscurity. Why let him rehash his most embarrassing moment before the nation again, now that we’re onto him? This is disgusting.

I have a differing theory on this whole affair. The news media and the military have allows had a bit of an ‘adversarial’ relationship. The military is know for saying the truth no matter how politically incorrect it is, and the news media always manages to twist whatever the military says just to fit the media’s agenda. So here is a reporter poking around for ‘dirt’ on a presidential candidate, a presidential candidate who just also happens to be a veteran. Say what you may, the military and the military veterans stick together 99% of the time (the 1% is for the likes of Kerry and Manning). Have you ever intentionally started a rumor? I have with some very humorous results. Now we have Lt. Col. Bill Burkett getting a call from Mary Mapes attempt to get the dirt on George Bush. Lt. Col. Burkett decides to manufacture the dirt and see who falls for it. Little did Lt. Col. Burkett realize he would bring down the entire Dan Rather dynasty because nobody verified it! Anyhow that’s my take on it because that’s what I would do.

RATHER......we can hardly wait. This old OLD political hack is a typical left wing, progressive socialist. He will never get over himself and his firing for the political gaff of his life, until he is long gone. Thanks for nothing, RATHER. I doubt your book will sell.
