JERUSALEM Israel's leader on Sunday dismissed a call from a key government partner to share the holy city of Jerusalem with the Palestinians, a reminder of the obstacles facing already troubled peacemaking efforts.
Conflicting claims to east Jerusalem lie at the heart of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The dispute over the area, home to sensitive Jewish, Muslim and Christian holy sites, has derailed past peace talks and spilled into violence. Palestinians claim the sector as the capital of their future state.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's reaffirmation of his intention to hold on to east Jerusalem drew criticism from the Palestinians and was likely to increase friction with the Americans. The White House Mideast envoy is scheduled to arrive this week in another attempt to push peace efforts forward.

BIBI!!! Leader of the Free World rocks!
God bless this man and Israel, and keep them safe from all their enemies without and within! (Sadly, including the current President of the United States!) :-(
Why should the Israelis share the city?God gave them clear title thousands of years ago.
The list, ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
can’t say as I blame him - I don’t want to share my country with Hamas either
Gee, the kids don’t want to share their sandbox on their own private property with the weapon-carrying reformatory bullies down the street. Wonder why.
"East Jerusalem" is where the Wall is, and the Temple Mount too.
Good for him and Israel.
They need to act in their own best interests and not make decisions based on US pressure.
The Obama administration would be happy to march all the Israelis off to palestinian concentration camps, like Treblinka, if they could get away with it.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's reaffirmation of his intention to hold on to east Jerusalem drew criticism......waaaah. Thanks Nachum.
BRAVO! I’m opposed to sharing the planet- even AIR- with any Muslims. Give them NOTHING, share nothing with evil!
If Israel ever gives an inch on this it will only be a matter of time before they lose all of Jerusalem and, consequently, Israel itself. Jerusalem IS Israel.
Maybe the United States should share California, Arizona and Texas with Mexico.....
Wait, we already do that.
I just want to know ONE THING!! Which side is Madam Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton on???????????????
And he/they shouldn’t
The muslems don’t want to share the world or the Universe with Israel or the US for that mater.
Why dont we give half of DC to Maryland...and half to Virginia...see how that idea floats in Washington...as for myself...this idea makes more sense than dividing Jerusalem. What say you?
Jerusalem is in Israel!
(How is this news?)
Why is Jordan NEVER mentioned in these articles. Israel captured the West Bank from Jordan in 1967.
Jordan renounced its claim to the West Bank in 1988.
“Israel’s leader does not want to share Jerusalem”
Why should he?
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.
Interesting, Israel has offered East Jerusalem twice, in 2000 and 2008. Both times refused. And though Arabs would have continued to live in Israel, including the portions of Jerusalem under Israeli sovereignty, Jews would have been expelled from any areas of Jerusalem, or the West Bank, run by Arabs. Hardly sharing.
He SHOULDN’T share ONE SQUARE INCH of Jerusalem with ANYONE.
Jerusalem may be sacred ground to two religions (Judaism and Christianity) and one death cult (Islam), but it is now and was initially and for centuries a JEWISH city - the city of David and Solomon.
And the sooner those despicable scum are flushed from the Al Aqsa Mosque and another Temple to Yahweh built there, after the site has been disinfected of Islamic putrescence, the better.
I’ll thank G-d for Bibi when he shows the same grit and determination with regards to Judah and Shomron. On the other hand, I’m glad he’s at least sticking up for Jerusalem. Truth be told, the Arabs themselves are scared to death of the PA getting hold of any part of the city, though they dasn’t say so in public.
But we do share the city. Muslims, as well as Russian and Greek Orthodox, Armenian, Roman Catholic and Ethiopian Christians, all are free to worship in Jerusalem. Under Jordanian Islamic rule, their rights were routinely restricted and stomped on, and Jews weren’t allowed to worship or even be, at all. There were mortars menacing passersby in the Jewish parts of Jerusalem, and the city itself was significantly smaller than it is today. More Arabs live in Jerusalem now than did before 1967, and the population of Hebron has doubled since then.
“Occupation” my a@#. The “occupation” is to Israel what National Guardsmen were to schoolchildren in Little Rock in 1957. It’s justice, not “occupation”.
