Immigrant advocates say theyre making a last-ditch effort to push U.S. Sen. Scott Brown to support the "DREAM Act."
A coalition of advocates, educators and religious leaders have scheduled a press conference Monday at Boston City Hall to pressure the Massachusetts Republican to vote for the federal proposal.
It would allow some illegal immigrants to qualify for permanent legal residency by graduating from college or a trade school or by joining the military. The Senate is slated to vote on the measure this week.
Brown has said that he opposes the bill and sees it as "amnesty."

Hang on there Scott. This alone would be enough to earn conservative support for this battled blue-state senator. Amnesty would permanently change this country.
Brown had better side with America on the DREAM Act...those Illegal Alien Rights and Hispano-Racist groups do not vote for GOP...nor will I if the GOP caves to the Illegal Alien hate groups
If this ole country boy wuz wagerin, he would bet ole Scotty would be a changin his mind right quick.
Scott Brown is a wussified Moron who votes badly MOST of the time.
He does this.. dead candidate walking in the political sense.
We knew he was a RINO, but compared to dead Head Ted, farts would have been worth voting for.
Take your barn coat and cram it Scotty.
You are toast in 2012 either way.
What a sad disappointment you have turned out to be.
please email him and send it asap or call his office, we can not let this act pass, our senators work for us and need to listen to US....
“See, Senator, it’s not really the parents fault, they had to take their kids and the kids had to go, and they had to lie to them, and the kids o course knew nothing and never asked their parents any questions and......”
I agree. If those people in DC think we are not watching they had better think again! NO AMNESTY!
Brown is a RINO. He’ll fold to the si si peude crowd..
“And honorable justices of the Supreme Court, I now have the unenviable task of describing the horrific motorcycle gang rape of our poor victim Jane Roe and her compelling story which hopefully will lead you to usurp the will of each and every state in our nation and....”
The Dream act is a lot worse than this article describes it as.
Anyone who believes it will allow a few immigrants is nuts.
If Scott Brown helps hold the line on the “NIGHTMARE” act, he should be forgiven all of his previous RINO behavior (and given indulgences for some of his future RINOism).
Many of these “kids” have had two decades to get “documented”.
The electorate of this country has hosed us beyond belief.
hold on scotty
If he votes for the Dream he needs to be primaried. Is a primary possible?
God, I pray that he doesn’t fold like a cheap suit.
Oh no! Doncha see, the kids never knew! Yeah, that’s the ticket , they never knew and their parents never told them and they never asked, so you see it’s a lot like “They didn’t Ask and we didn’t tell”. And you can’t blame the chilin, and of course you can’t blame the parents, so it’s gotta be OUR fault, and all we’re trying to do is make it right, and sure a seventh of Mexico’s population is now living here, but a seventh, a sixth, a fifth, what’s in a fraction. The main thing is, they’re all future democrats for gods sake!
I just wonder how much money John Cornyn will give this RINO and take from possible tea party primary winners in 2012?
I think Brown can win re-election if he holds the line on this. If not, he gets about half the number of votes as he did when elected. And endless hate mail.
We’re watching you Brown. You’re already on very thin ice.
Most Hispanics do not vote Republican. We’re all you got.
Brown has been 100% consistent against amnesty.... MUCH more so than some so-called “conservative” senators like Brownback.
Brown has not been a disappointment so far. He is as conservative as you can hope for from Massachusetts.
Brown supports allowing homos to serve openly in the military. That doesn't "disappoint" you? If he's "as conservative as you can hope for from Massachusetts", then it's time to expel that state from the Union.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
What are the odds of this thing actually passing?
If you followed his campaign, you wouldn’t be disappointed either.
You have a good life too.
Brown’s opposition to the Dream ACT is far more consequential than his support for repealing DADT.
If DADT is not repealed legislatively, it will most likely be repealed by the courts. And probably 75-80% of Brown’s constituents support repeal - you can only go out on a limb and oppose your constituents so many times.
I guess you're not a veteran. I am, and the way I see it, one issue is just as bad as the other. Homosexuals serving openly and without fear in the US military is damn sure going to have dire consequences for our national security.
"If DADT is not repealed legislatively, it will most likely be repealed by the courts."
Sorry, after Kelo vs. New London, I don't trust the courts. The SCOTUS' 4-4-1 alignment doesn't give me the warm fuzzies, either. We're only one stroke, heart attack, fatal car crash, or Kennedy bad day away from tyranny. I have no faith or trust in the courts.
"And probably 75-80% of Browns constituents support repeal - you can only go out on a limb and oppose your constituents so many times."
Which is, again, why I say we should eject Massachusetts from the Union. From there we can move on to Kalifornia, Minnesota, Oregon, NY,...
