Shocking Nixon-Kissinger Tapes: ‘So What if Soviets Gas Jews’
Israel National News ^ | 12/12/2010 | Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu

White House adviser and Secretary of State Henry Kissinger once told President Richard Nixon, "And if they put Jews into gas chambers in the Soviet Union, it is not an American concern. Maybe a humanitarian concern,” according to newly-released tapes from the Nixon library.

The shocking statement from Kissinger, a Jew, was followed up by an agreement from Nixon, who said, "I know. We can't blow up the world because of it."

Kissinger also advised Nixon when he was president during the campaign to free the Jews from the Soviet Union, “The emigration of Jews from the Soviet Union is not an objective of American foreign policy.

The shocking statements contradict an image among some American Jews that Nixon was a friend of Israel and the Jews.

Nixon also is quoted as saying an anti-Semitic generalization, “What it is, is it's the insecurity. It’s the latent insecurity. Most Jewish people are insecure. And that's why they have to prove things."

The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg, a usually constant critic of Israel, responded on his blog, "I suppose he [Nixon] is right, at least on the narrow subject of Henry Kissinger.”

The conversations that were recorded on secret tapes followed a March 1973 meeting between Nixon and Kissinger with former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir, who pleaded with the United States to help open the barred gates for millions of oppressed Soviet Jews, denied religious freedom, wanting to flee the Communist regime. Eventually, the freedom for Soviet Jews campaign broke the ban in later administrations and allowed massive immigration of Jews to Israel as well as to the United States.

Nixon’s disgust with minorities was not restricted to Jews. He labeled Irishmen as drinkers and Italians as “wonderful” people but who “don't have their heads screwed on tight.”

Yesterday’s discussion was rather comprehensive. I suggest readers who want to see what this is about do a search for “NIXON” and go to that one.

Like to take exception with the "minority" statement. Any of you people out there remember when the Mullis family down in Ripley County decided to move off the ridge and into a town? That name changed to Millhouse.

Now, what ethnicity were the Mullis family? (That, BTW, is the M in Nixon's middle name).

Once you figure that out get back here and tell me what the SMALLEST ethnicity in Europe is.

Maybe I am missing something here, but what Kissinger said was correct. How is the Soviet Union’s gassing Jews an American problem? It sounds like a Jewish problem to me. The only obligation the United States government has is to its own citizens. Since when did the United States government become responsible for the Jews throughout the world? The United States might choose to intervene, but it is not obligated to do so.

My father in law, who is Jewish, was a staunch Republican until Nixon was elected and then abandoned the GOP due to Nixon.

Nixon was a huge supporter of Israel. Multiple people told him to not go overboard in his support of Israel during the six day war (I always get the two wars confused - I think it was the six day.)

Nixon made sure Israel received all the supplies they need sending air cargo (weapons) round the clock. Golda Meir and others said Nixon helped save Israel.

“How is the Soviet Union’s gassing Jews an American problem? It sounds like a Jewish problem to me.”

Was Hitler’s gassing of Jews an American problem?

Suppose Nazi Germany had never crossed over their borders and only gassed Jews within Germany?

That would not have been an American problem?

Pretty funny coming from him.

Kissinger’s statements remind me of Soros. I also don’t trust Kissinger because he wants a New World Order.

It was the Yom Kippur war (1973). Nixon stripped weapons and ammo stocks from National Guard and Reserve units sent them to Isreal at the most critical time. Israel was running out of ammo and weapons just as they were stemming the tide of the Syrian and Egyptian advances. I remember seeing convoys of tnaks and mobile 155mm howitzers going down highway 101 to Vandenberg AFB where they were being flown to Isreal and driven off of transports and straight to battle.

Nixon saved Isreal, no doubt about it.

There’s another side to the Nixon airlift. Israel was preparing to go nuclear after it’s initial setbacks and the airlift was the only way to prevent nuclear war. Nixon didn’t ‘save’ Israel.

http://www.au.af.mil/au/awc/awcgate/cpc-pubs/farr.htm

“Thus started the subtle, opaque use of the Israeli bomb to ensure that the United States kept its pledge to maintain Israel’s conventional weapons edge over its foes.65 There is significant anecdotal evidence that Henry Kissinger told President of Egypt, Anwar Sadat, that the reason for the U.S. airlift was that the Israelis were close to “going nuclear.”66 “

Sounds like an out of context comment, the point of which was we can’t go to nuclear war over the Soviet Union mistreating its own citizens. Nixon WAS a great friend of Israel taht is undenable. He put our troops in Europe on nuclear alert to deter the Soviets from coming to Egypt’s aid against Israel.

Interesting stuff from your link:

“Israel is a nation with a state religion, but its top leaders are not religious Jews. The intricacies of Jewish religious politics and rabbinical law do affect their politics and decision processes. In Jewish law, there are two types of war, one obligatory and mandatory (milkhemet mitzvah) and the one authorized but optional (milkhemet reshut).140 The labeling of Prime Minister Begin’s “Peace for Galilee” operation as a milchemet brera (“war of choice”) was one of the factors causing it to lose support.141 Interpretation of Jewish law concerning nuclear weapons does not permit their use for mutual assured destruction. However, it does allow possession and threatening their use, even if actual use is not justifiable under the law. Interpretations of the law allow tactical use on the battlefield, but only after warning the enemy and attempting to make peace. How much these intricacies affect Israeli nuclear strategy decisions is unknown.142

The secret nature of the Israeli nuclear program has hidden the increasing problems of the aging Dimona reactor and adverse worker health effects. Information is only now public as former workers sue the government. This issue is now linked to continued tritium production for the boosted anti-tank and anti-missile nuclear warheads that Israeli continues to need. Israel is attempting to obtain a new, more efficient, tritium production technology developed in India.143”

So, any of the bombs that India tested in 1998 that had something to do with Israel?

OK. I've done 15 minutes worth of web searching and the Mullis name seems to have British, Scottish and French origins. One site claimed the name derived from mill workers.

What is the answer to your quiz? If I may ask.

One of the genealogical sources that I saw had an association of the surnames Mullis and Milhous in 1331. So it’s not exactly a spur of the moment change...

We can't blow up the world because of it."

This was a dispassionate discussion of the realities of world political considerations. There are limits on what the US can do. We must focus our energy on the possible, not the impossible.

About the racist language. "If you have lusted after a woman in your heart you've committed adultery with her." If you've ever had a negative thought about someone because of their race you've committed racism. All people are murders, thieves, and racist because of their evil thoughts. That's what Jesus came to save us from.

Leaders are human. Get over it.

. ..and the Leftist stance all around, when it comes to 'public' policy.

BTW...anyone know if Obama is being recorded for history as he speaks in the Oval Office? Was Jimmy Carter recorded? Kennedy and Johnson?

Remember reading - a long time ago - about when practice began and ended; but now wondering...(what I knew 'then' - but have now forgotten/lol.)
