Sarah Palin's Haiti Visit: Blink and You'd Miss It (No matter what, attack Sarah Palin!)
Time Magazine ^ | December 12, 2010 | Jessica Desvarieux in Port-au-Prince

Posted on 12/12/2010 11:14:36 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin's visit to Haiti was over faster than you could say cholera. Palin spent less than 48 hours in the earthquake-ravaged nation that's currently facing a growing cholera epidemic that has already killed more than 2,000 people, and mounting political unrest due to a contested election. Palin was accompanied by her reality-TV-star daughter, Bristol, and her husband, Todd. And she mostly remained off-limits to media organizations except for Fox News, the network on which she serves as a news analyst.

The trip to Haiti had been planned a month in advance, and was hosted by the Rev. Franklin Graham, son of famed evangelist Billy Graham and founder of humanitarian organization Samaritan's Purse. During the weekend, Palin visited a couple of cholera treatment centers in the notorious slum area of Cité Soleil. Palin made herself briefly available to the media on Sunday at the headquarters of Samaritan's Purse, alongside a depot with temporary-shelter materials — the organization has built about 10,000 temporary shelters since the earthquake.

Haiti is the fourth country outside North America that Palin has visited, and she said her impressions of the poorest country in the western hemisphere were "much harsher" than she had expected.....

With all the horror and despair that that Haitian people have experienced over the last eleven months, any glimmer of hope is welcome and the people of Haiti welcomed Sarah with open arms and Sarah brightened their day for the first time since the quake.

This was an information gathering trip; not a lengthy stay in the mission field. Sarah is building the case that Christian mission work is the most effective than foreign aid from our government. Christian agencies bring that aid directly and does not get funneled away by a corrupt government.

LOL. This insane news media really must get over its insane fascination with all things Sarah Palin. I cannot trust their biased printed word or unidentified photos...! I mean, get real.

....visit to Haiti was over faster than you could say cholera.....

Too cute by half. Idiot writer. Was Sarah Palin expected to stay a week? Maybe a month?

Or put in Clinton's pocket.

Things haven't improved at all even with Bush and Clinton all over the TV collecting millions.

You can see Greta in the pic as well. Greta is the one w/ the white shirt. The corner of it that is. That sandy color hair is definitely Greta’s.

RIGHT and odumbo didn't see Harzai - the weather, ya know?

If you read GretaWire, you know that Franklin Graham and Samaritan's Purse is giving out 8 million presents in 110 countries to kids this Christmas. But for the generosity of Rev Graham and Samaritan's Purse and the thousands of volunteers and contributors, the 8 million children would not get gifts. I went to Haiti this weekend to be part of that gift give away (and to check on the cholera situation and the aftermath of the earthquake) and brought my husband with me. Check out below the pic of the excited kids about to get gifts. In this pic my husband is the one distributing the gifts.

Here's a few pictures from my trip to Haiti with Rev. Franklin Graham...we're here to give out gifts to children through Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child.

Gov. Palin is also here to help Samaritan's Purse.

48 hours? That is a long time for something like this, especially considering who she is, how long Obama spent talking to Karzai (on the phone 15 mins) when he was in Afghanistan, and how long he spends on vacations and golfing.

I’d say 48 hours is a long time to stay in a country which, Time admits, has civil unrest and cholera.

well, hundreds of millions of people and weary donors were again focused again on Haiti, thanks to the liberal media bashing of Palin

If you are dying of cholera, any publicity of your needs is a good thing

Now, when do obama and moochelle plan a 48 hour visit?

Greta Van Sustern has gone along with the Grahams to cover Samaritan’s Purse mission operations since at least 2008 when she went to North Korea

her visit was not about Palin

“Christian mission work is the most effective than foreign aid from our government.”
_____________

Actually, christian mission work has very little, if anything, to do with our government. It is voluntary and privately-funded.

The only thing our government had to do with Rev. Graham’s mission is give him permission to travel to Haiti.
