A shoulder injury has put an end to Brett Favre's NFL-record regular-season start streak at 297. The date was Sept. 20, 1992.

That's the last time Brett Favre played but did not start a game in the NFL.

More than 18 years later Favre, finally, will sit one out.

You gotta tip your hat to him though. His streak is all the more impressive considering it’s in the most pressure-packed position in the most violent game in American sports. I would say that his streak is even more impressive than Ripken’s or A.C. Green’s streak in the NBA.

*SNIFFLE*

*SQUEEEEEEEEZE*

I'm sorry. As hard as I try, I just can't seem to shed one damned tear for Brett Farve.

Props to cripplecreek for the graphics!

....he’s really cheapened his legacy these last few years with the endless comeback drama....I used to like him a lot more....we should have wised up when the Packers cut him...they were telling us something with that move.

That’s too bad.

I wanted him to get another start - and get injured again!

Now he'll have plenty of time to text photos of his junk to young women. But he better learn fast that once your out of the league, the NFL front office won't go out of their way to protect your image anymore + he has the personality of a dead fish so broadcasting & media jobs are pretty much out of the picture.

I predict retirement isn't going to be pretty for this man. Especially with his drinking and womanizing issues.

His streak was kept alive by a compliant coach that let him play with a bad thumb on his passing arm. He stunk on ice, but he played. The farve found out he was more important than team, and it stuck.

Arthur Moats. He is the Buffalo Bill that put the hit on Favre to end the streak. In case the trivia question ever comes up.
