The Arkansas Geological Survey is trying to unravel a mystery: What is causing earthquakes in the town of Guy, Arkansas?
Since September 20, the community of 549 residents north of Little Rock has experienced an almost constant shaking from 487 measurable earthquakes.
"We've had 15 today including a 3.1 (magnitude) from this morning," Scott Ausbrooks, geohazards supervisor for the Geological Survey, said Monday. "These are shallow quakes between two and eight kilometers (between one-and-a-quarter and five miles) below the surface."
While earthquakes aren't unusual in the Southeast state, the frequency is.
"This time last year we had 39 quakes total for the entire state," said Ausbrooks.
Most of the quakes in the swarm -- a localized surge of earthquakes with all of them about the same magnitude, according to the United States Geological Survey -- are so small they go unnoticed. The largest, a 4.0 on October 11, caused the only documented damage, cracking a window at a visitor's center to a state park.

nope....
Should be some good ones next week as the total lunar eclipse is less than a day away from the solstice. Good push/pull gravity from the moon and sun.
The New Madrid fault line extends down into Arkansas. I believe Guy is about 100 miles from the fault line.
Could be related to Ok. Could be anything really.
Researchers, however, are quick to point out that there is a history of earthquake swarms in Arkansas that predate the widespread gas-drilling. In 1982-83, and again in 2001, swarms were centered near Enola, less than 10 miles southeast of Guy.
But don't tell the anti-fracking crowd, I'm sure they will be using this as yet more 'proof' of the evils of fracking wells.
My parents don’t live too far away, and this is what they’re hearing.....
It’s just some construction work on the Underground City designed to house the Ruling Elite should the ‘worst’ happen.
Man-made Global Warming?
It’s them HOGS stampeding for the Sugar Bowl!
Good luck with the Mayor trying to buy Earth Quake insurance. No company worth their while will insure anyone in that town.

Obviously Bush’s fault! (pun intended)
These seem to be a bit centered about where there has been a bit of activity historically, perhaps a bit north of it.
Historical:
There are far bigger reasons to be wary of fracking...it really seems that this is a red herring, though I am not offering that as a professional opinion. :-)
See the dots to the east...they are New Madrid events. The star is the most recent event (Dec 7).
Note how the Seismic Hazard Map shows the New Madrid to the east, and this is pretty far off it.
Note, however, I am not a seismologist.
Could be somebody's been a runnin' off a damn good batch
lol the ruling elite is delusional if they think that will save them when SHTF.

Nice maps. If I had the time and I wasn’t so lazy I would look for some GIS data and play more with this. But I have been spending a lot of time shoveling snow this week!
Darn that global warming! ;)
