add to it that ‘fees’ are now defined as taxes and taxes require a supermajority to pass the senate iirc

Yes indeed. But now, the Dems don’t need a 2/3 majority to pass a budget, only a simple majority. Should be a fun roller coaster ride for the next 4 years.

“We’ve been living in fantasy land. It is much worse than I thought. I’m shocked.”

I needed a good laugh to start my day. I am shocked that California voters elected such a naive fool to govern the state.

"But they try to fix the hole by digging deeper."

They figure that eventually they will run out of dirt and be "hole" again.

Brown the clown as Attorney General should have filed suit to overturn Plyler vs Doe the lead Supreme Court case on Education for illegals(1982)One factor sited in the case is that the state (Texas) could not show the economic damage done by educating illegals. Clearly the states are in bad shape economically and do not now have funds to educate illegals to the detriment of the education of legal residents and citizens. http://www.law.cornell.edu/supct/html/historics/USSC_CR_0457_0202_ZO.html

He was a joke as AG and clearly influenced by his liberal mindset and did not undertake cases that supported conservative points of view.

California has gone from around # 2 in the nation to 49 or 50 which coincides also with Brown Jr.’s allowing public employee unions when he was first governor in the 1970’s. Edmund G. “Jerry” Brown Jr, is a liberal idiot who helped create the poor education in California that his Father Edmund G (Pat) Brown Sr, had made one of the best in the Nation. Another example of why we should not have trans generational politicians.

Do you fire policemen, or sell off the state parks?
Do you fire firemen, or shut down museums, concert halls and libraries?
Do you fire teachers, or stop road, bridge and waterway repairs?
Do you fire civil servants, or eliminate everyone's pension?
Do you fix it yourself, or do you cry to the feds?

Why is it I'm thinking the solution will be tax hikes? (Answer: Because in the minds of crooked politicians it's the lesser of two weevils)

Arnold NEVER ran as a conservative. Never

... oh really?? well, I attended a Burbank CA Repub Assembly lunch when he told the crowd he was the reincarnation of Ronald Reagan and would govern the state as RR did... but I guess that was just an act, not really “running” when you address and seek the endorsement of the biggest conservative group in the state... hmmmmmmmm , never huh?

ymmv

Arnold’s proposals were voted down by the stupid people who bought the union ads, that’s when he folded and went along with the dems.

That was the precise point in time where I took stock of the situation and decided that it was finally time to get out. It was apparent to me then, that the ratio of crazies to sane people in the state had tipped over into a permanent lunatic majority.

That was enough for me. I moved the family to Texas and never looked back. In the five years since I left, conditions there have deteriorated even further, and they look to continue down that path for the foreseeable future.

When inflation hits we all will be millionaires! We can all face huge taxes and pay them with a smile on our faces. At least Brown gets it now. Knowing you have a problem is the first step. What can California do to raise Money? This is my list:
1. Legalize Prostitution in some counties like they do in Nevada and tax it. It could be controlled this way.
2. Legalize gambling—put the slots in the Race tracks at least.
3. Bring back gambling ships and river boats on the Sacramento River.
4. Nude Beaches to attract European Tourists.
5. Lower gambling age to 18.
6. Replace Freeways with payways—put in toll roads.
7. Tax the churches! The big Mega Churches are more religious entertainment than worship.
8. Sell off the state parks—maybe half of them.
9. Sell off coastal oil leases—that would make money.
10. Charge illegal aliens to come in—They pay coyotes $3,000 to be abused and smuggled it—why not charge $1,000 and the state could gain? And we could control and get their names.
11. Legalize Gay Marriage and tax it.
12. Cut all welfare by 10%—all pensions too 10%.
13. let students out at 17 (they don’t lean anything in Senior year anyway) Think of the money we would save?
14. Tax all movies and TV shows made in Hollywood—5% could go to the state.
Maybe you have some better ideas.

police, fire and scrool unions and their salaries and pensions have decimated the state.

At least they do something for theri salaries, how about the Illegal immigrants that are on the public dole for just crossing the border.
