All those media surveys of the military are not surveys of troops fighting on the front line, where the presence of gays would be far more stressful. I expect that for frontline troops there would be significant opposition -- a sentiment confirmed by the USMC Commander who went public with his opposition a few days ago.

To those who think that having open gays serve in the military is no big deal, just answer me this -- I cannot imagine any young man wanting to fight alongside another man who might have a sexual attraction toward him. It's disruptive and offensive no matter how much PC-bull honkey one says about it. Matters of sex should stay out of the foxhole altogether.

This is the same reason, of course, why I am violently opposed to women in combat, also.

Isn’t there a big military base in Maine? It needs to be moved or closed down since the Maine twins are both set on betraying our military.

Closed last year. Brunswick Naval Air Base. Maine still has Bath Iron Works, builder of Navy ships.

I don't think it will last that long. We are clearly at or beyond the "bread and circuses" stage of another once-great empire. The majority are content with whatever pittance the government sends their way as long as they can bed whomever they want, whenever they want, with complete impunity. The generation of children left to raise themselves as best they can (with government indoctrination as their sole education) will not be able to sustain a viable society.

And the RINOs go right along because they are nothing but sleeper socialists.

It’s the way they do things which they know Americans oppose-look at CommieCare and how they passed that, all the shameful wheeling and dealing behind closed doors. I know that’s nothing new, but in some cases the deal was to avoid the very legislation they were stuffing down our throats.

Yes, that's their goal. That way, the Obama Civilian Security Force will be the best option. You see, Hussein's Praetorian Guard won't accept homos. They aren't stable enough to protect His Kenyanness.

Our military will eventually become very weak and our country will no longer be able to defend itself and rebellion and secession will eventually come to fruition.

Yes. You say that like it's supposed to convince people who have that as their goal to change their course and methods. You are operating from the false premise that these people are American patriots. They are not. They are anti-American sleeper agents extraordinaire.

I predict within 50 to 100 years, the USA will be no more....

LOL, you're insanely optimistic. We've got 2 years, tops. Probably more like 6 months.

"the military is going to struggle to recruit and retain people"

A big part of every government department's budget is salaries. Fewer service people in arms means lower salary costs, lower retirement and benefits costs.

Besides, if over time the only people that join the military are the gays, they'll look so fabulous in their new powder blue uniforms when the UN is given authority.

The USA IS no more. We are now merely fighting over the remains. The US Constitution, the document that created the governmental authority, has been shredded by successive Congressional legerdemain and court rulings that decided that case law and stare decisis was superior to the document itself. This was a generational event, patterned after the Fabian Society's creeping idealogy.

Fifty to a hundred years? No sir. That was fifty or a hundred years ago. We are about to get into the ‘do your business or get off the pot’ territory. The last election may have been the last yelp of the populace voting and mattering in the slightest. What has been coming, and what seems to be now here, is the rule of bureaucratic fiat. We will be regulated into submission. And if we try to fight it, we will end up jobless, homeless, and forbidden from participating in today's ‘modern’ society.

Now, are you ready to fight, or are you willing to go into that dark night with nary a whimper. It is time to chose. Chose wisely.

This will be the last straw for a couple of soldiers I know quite well personally-- including two who had definitely intended to put in 20 or more years. They have had to put up with ludicrous ROE's, watch a congress composed of cowards and traitors not only move to freeze or cut their pay/benefits (increasing same for Federal civilian employees), and now this. They are being hung out to dry so that politicians can kiss the homosexual mafia's azz and they know it.

Are people really willing to go to Washington and let the folks there know what they’re thinking?

I am, and I have an idea how to do it.

I work until midnight Friday, and then don’t need to be back until about noon Monday (though I might call in for Monday if we do this).

I’m willing to drive my minivan from Grand Rapids, Michigan to Washington DC and back, starting from an agreed rally point at 12:30 AM Saturday, with at least three but no more than five GR FReepers (the van will hold seven, but six will be more comfy). Each person should have cash for gas and tolls for the group, and meals for themselves. There would be a fifteen to thirty minute break every three to four hours (that is, at the three hour mark the driver would start looking for a roadside stop with fuel and amenities). Driver relief would be voluntary, but expected.

On arrival, the van would make one complete circuit of the Beltway, and then proceed into the city across the Arlington Memorial Bridge, east along Independence Ave., past the Capitol to First St., north to Constitution Ave, west across the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Bridge, back onto the Beltway.

But wait, there’s more.

We would proceed along the Beltway to the River Road Exit, take River Road until it crosses Nebraska Ave NW and becomes Wisconsin Ave NW, follow Wisconsin to Massachusetts Ave NW, left on Massachusetts, past the Observatory, around DuPont Circle to Connecticut Ave NW, south on 17th St past the White House, to Constitution Ave, left (east) on Constitution to 14th St, left (north) on 14th to Massachusetts, to Wisconsin, to River Road, and out of the city.

And then home.

No marches, no speakers, no bands, few if any signs. No parking. No porta-potties. Just a quick driving tour of the city.

“So what?”

So this. How many others in the Grand Rapids area have cars and can get away from early Saturday morning until sometime Sunday?

How many in Kalamazoo?

How many in Battle Creek? Lansing? Ann Arbor? The Detroit burbs?

How many in Cadillac, Kalkaska, Traverse City?

How many in St Ignace, Sault Ste Marie, even Marquette?

And this. How many in Illinois could do it? Indiana? Ohio? Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia? How about it, Tennessee? Georgia?

Could we get a thousand FReepmobiles to show up in Washington, on the same day, driving the same predetermined route? Imagine the sight, on that part of Constitution Ave between the Washington Monument and the Ellipse, with a line of Freepers completing the first circuit going west, and another line of them halfway through the second going east? And what if they had their horns a-blowing?

Could we get 10,000 cars? A quarter million? Can you imagine a caravan that long, horns blowing, not stopping (except for traffic signals), just looping around the Seat of Government? Just a few minutes per vehicle, but hours on the ground.

No muss, no fuss, and we all go home. Some of us even make it to church next morning.

No schedules, apart from meeting people with whom you would be riding. We don’t want to arrive all at once; just a steady stream throughout the day. I would expect that if my group could leave by 12:30 AM, we’d arrive around 2:00 or 3:00 PM and be back home by 6:00 or 7:00 Sunday morning (that’s a mental SWAG, and I could be way off).

Well, it seems like a good idea to me, and I’m willing to do it.

Not alone.

I’m going to do something I haven’t done on purpose before; I’m going to post this in three or four promising threads, and then I’m going to close my browser, and go do other things, and leave FR alone for 36 hours. When I come back Friday morning, I’ll be looking to see if this idea has taken root and flourished. I’ll be looking for FReepmails from GR FReepers wanting to ride along with me; from other FReepers who will bring their own cars and carloads; a couple thousand posts from several states, each indicating a desire to participate.

See ya!

Oh, they will still be able to recruit and retain the “numbers” stated as required. The problem is the quality of recruitment and those retained will be low and continue to sink with time.

Personnally I don’t want a bunch of “angry at the world” homosexuals to be armed troops. That won’t be an army, it will be an armed rable.

There was a time when police were highly respected members of the community. Today, even the law abiding don’t hold the peace officer community in the high regard it used to.

I am concerned that someday the public’s opinion of the military will change back to the negative it held during the Vietnam era...except this time it may be deserved.

Too many of the Republicans are asleep to the fact of the HUGE lurch to the left of the Dems The rhetoric has convinced them that opposition is intolerant and obstructionist. They have been brainwashed into thinking "the American people" for whom they project such profound care, demand that they compromise (detested word), so they live in fear of being labeled.

Published in another post is 40 something goals of the Communists read into the Congressional Record in 1963--most have already come about through the subversive infiltration of Communist card holders and fellow travelers.

McCarthy may have been an alcoholic loud-mouth, but he saw the truth and called it. I wish some Senator McConnell and a few others could grow a spine and accoutrements that Michelle Bachmann and Sarah Palin have.
