Far from being Tony Blair's 'good' war, the assault on Yugoslavia was as wrong as the invasion of Iraq
'The United States of America and the Kosovo Liberation Army stand for the same human values and principles ... Fighting for the KLA is fighting for human rights and American values." So declared the neocon US senator (and current foe of WikiLeaks) Joseph Lieberman back in 1999 at the height of the US-led military intervention against Slobodan Miloševic's Yugoslavia.
It would be interesting to hear what Senator Lieberman makes of the report of the Council of Europe – Europe's premier human rights watchdog – on his favourite band of freedom fighters. The report, which cites FBI and other intelligence sources, details horrific rights abuses it claims have been carried out by the KLA, the west's allies in the war against Yugoslavia 11 years ago.
The council claims that civilians – Serbian and non-KLA-supporting Kosovan Albanians detained by the KLA in the 1999 hostilities – were shot in northern Albania and their kidneys extracted and sold on the black market. It names Hashim Thaçi, the former leader of the KLA and Kosovo's prime minister, as the boss of a "mafia-like" group engaged in criminal activity – including heroin trading – since before the 1999 war. The report is a damning indictment not only of the KLA but also of western policy. And it also gives lie to the fiction that Nato's war with Yugoslavia was, in Tony Blair's words, "a battle between good and evil; between civilisation and barbarity; between democracy and dictatorship".
It was a fiction many on the liberal left bought into.

Don’t forget to give Billy Jeff Clintoon full credit for the atrocities committed in Kosovo. Fighting with the KLA to take Serb land and give it to Muslim squatters was one of the sorriest chapters in U.S. history and will come back to haunt us in the future.
Clintoon ought to be in prison.

For the Paultards and the Code Pink types anyone who believes in defending America or the values of liberty (our interests) in the world get called a ‘neocon’. Or it is possible Lieberman is being called such simply because he is Jewish being that many of these same types are anti-Israel as well.
Of course any information that these anti-American types can get to make America look bad gets them all excited as well.

I don’t get the comparison to Iraq. Hussein was a clear threat to the US. We had a compelling interest in taking out that regime.
Well, the attacks on Serbia regarding Kosovo was based on dubious intelligence and many will argue that the attack on Iraq was based on the same premise, ala the possession of WMDs.
I’ve come to the conclusion after long years of reading and pondering that we had no business in either WW I or Yugoslavia. Yeah, the Serbs were rotten people, but we helped a criminal Muslim nation rise in Europe because of it. We should have just stayed out of it.
Except Hussein (the first one, not the current president) had WMD. One of our best clues was the fact that he had already used them—on his own people.
I’ll never understand how libtards can seriously argue that removing him was a bad thing.
The propaganda for the Serbia attack was based on faked CNN news reports but I do not remember any dubious intelligence. Everything that happened was plain as day to those who avoided the mainstream media.
McCain, Lieberman, and most of the RINO's were also huge KLA backers.

It already has bigtime. Osama bin Ladin received protection and a passport from the new Clinton-backed Muslim nation of Bosnia.
Bill Clinton has already been indicted for war crimes by the International court at the Hague.
The US has chosen not to deliver him.
