Posted on 12/16/2010 10:31:51 AM PST by La Lydia
... the White House is again pushing for final passage of the Dream Act, hosting a conference call with religious leaders who are hoping to drive the deal home before everyone on Capitol Hill heads home for the holidays...According to Fox News producers on Capitol Hill, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., does intend to bring up the DREAM Act during this lame duck session.
So, while lawmakers on the Hill scramble to get everything done, the White House put together another in a series of conference calls on the DREAM Act. Rabbi Jack Moline, from Congregation Agudas Achim in Alexandria, VA says he has been working the phones on this for a while. "I have both personally and publicly called on Senators Warner and Webb to support his act. They were on the fence for a little while," Moline admitted on the call. "Have we done enough? If we had done enough we wouldn't be having this call. It's one of the reasons we're having this call."
Heather Higgenbottom from the White House Domestic Policy Council said the president is working the phones, pushing senators to vote in favor of the DREAM Act whenever it does come up for a vote and also told reporters that Defense Secretary Gates has written to the sponsors of the act...to show his support.
And in perhaps a final appeal for senators to vote in favor of the DREAM Act, Dr. Joel Hunter from A Church Distributed in Northland, FL, implored senators to be fair in their vote saying, "...don't punish the kids for something their parents did."
Even though Reid plans on bringing up the DREAM Act, it's looking less likely there will be enough time for it to get through.

We need to hear from Billy Graham.
I think the stars are lining up, that DREAM is shot out.
LOL @ “religious leaders”
Synagogue of Satan
Sorry I got this mixed up with DADT
What church is Obama friendly with - Rev Wright and his type? True Christian bible believing churches are on to you Obama - no politicing in theirs. When you approve same sex marriage and approve abortion, you lost this group.
Keep calling. This is not over. Fox News Latino? LOL! Our friends at Saudi Prince Al Waleed’s Fox News. Just as bad as Prince AL Waleed’s ABC or his CNN or the other 3 networks he and the Saudi king pull the strings for Obama.
The public is so stupid. All of TV and ALL of Hollywood support the islamist. Same tactics they used to take over the UK.
.... because the last time they listened to Obama, they lost only six seats!
I hope the republicans have enough balls to threaten losing their tax-exempt status
16 There are six things the LORD hates,
seven that are detestable to him:
17 haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
18 a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,
19 a false witness who pours out lies
and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.
12 The wicked plot against the righteous
and gnash their teeth at them;
13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked,
for he knows their day is coming.
14 The wicked draw the sword
and bend the bow
to bring down the poor and needy,
to slay those whose ways are upright.
15 But their swords will pierce their own hearts,
and their bows will be broken.
Forever, O Lord, thy Word is firmly fixed in the Heavens. Psalm 119:89
17% real unemployment (20% in some places)- we don’t need any more citizens competing for jobs.
Notice how this WH uses religion only when absolutely necessary?
Since we know who these kids are, why haven’t their parents been deported?
Dear Sen.Weird Al Franken:
A YES on DREAM is a vote to kill the dreams of millions of young unemployed Americans who can’t find a job.
The DREAM Act would give out millions of additional 10-year work permits at a time of 9.8 percent unemployment. Even people who don’t qualify in the first place — or who do qualify for the provisional amnesty but never meet the educational criteria later — all of them can get a 10-year work permit from the start.
Applicants merely have to claim — not provide evidence — that they meet criteria of having been brought to the U.S. before age 16 and being under the age of 30 at time of enactment and being present in the U.S. at least 5 years before enactment of the amnesty, among other criteria.
Once they allege these minimal criteria, the illegal aliens are given “conditional lawful permanent resident status” and are given a 10-year work permit to compete directly with the 22 million Americans who want a full-time job but can’t find one.
Estimates suggest that up to 2 million illegal aliens could legitimately qualify for the opening application, and perhaps a couple million more might be or look young enough to fraudulently apply.
Those millions would immediately be able to legally compete for any U.S. job.
The DREAM amnesty allows those who fail to meet any of the criteria after 10 years to file a claim of hardship. The US Citizenship & Immigration Services agency is given the right to issue waivers and allow these illegal aliens to stay.
Why, at this time of 9.8 percent unemployment, is this Lame Duck considering a giant increase the job competition for unemployed Americans?
Your Old Pal ,
Yes, they will call oput every bleeding heart do-gooder to push this monstrosity.
Thw Dream Act DOES need to be pushed - right off the Pacific Palisades along with each and every supporter and sponsor.
I’m sure Jim Wallis is right in the middle of this crap.
They will do as much damage as they possibly can in this session; it’s a political Jihad.
Dear Representative Bachmann,
I am glad you proved you care about the plight of the 22 million Americans who cannot find a job by voting against the DREAM Act amnesty. Thank you.
We both know the American people have great sympathy for illegal alien children who know no other country as home, but the DREAM Act would give eventual citizenship to young adults who have spent very little of their lives in the United States. DREAM amnesty recipients can then sponsor adult relatives of their extended family, including the people who initially smuggled them into the U.S. I am very glad you know these facts as well as I do. It is very unfortuante that the majority of your House colleagues do not know these facts.
Thank you for voting against the DREAM Act and please do all you can to convince your friends in the Senate to oppose this horrible bill.

So you would rather reward the kids for their parent's illegal acts?
Or Franklin Graham.
Frnakle tells itlike it is.
For example, he stated Islam is EVIL.
There is no way in hell that a “religious leader” should agree to THIS. It violates our existing laws and helps to keep us SAFE.
“I think the stars are lining up, that DREAM is shot out.”
It’s not over with these people until Congress is out of session. Keep calling, faxing, emailing.
Of course NOT!
That ONLY applies to conservative churches.
If they are humanists posing as “religious” people,
then it doesn't apply. Heck they even have POLITICAL SPEECHES and calls for POLITICAL DONATIONS in the HUMANIST “churches”. If you are attending a conservative church, you can't do that. If you DO, then the conservative church will be audited and lose their tax exemption status.
This pathetic piece of trash calling on the Religious now he calls on them after what he has done to this country..You will still be kicked out come 2012..
Obama ‘07: Muslim Call to Prayer is One of “Prettiest Sounds on Earth” And he also went to the muslim
Now, let’s also go back to 2005 to June 23rd, a portion of Obama’s speech to the United Church of Christ’s 50th anniversary General Synod in Hartford, Connecticut, June 23rd, 2007. Look at me. Listen to this. This is Obama. “Somewhere along the way, faith stopped being used to bring us together and started being used to drive us apart. It got hijacked. Part of it’s because of the so-called leaders of the Christian Right, who’ve been all too eager to exploit what divides us. At every opportunity, they’ve told evangelical Christians that Democrats disrespect their values and dislike their church, while suggesting to the rest of the country that religious Americans care only about issues like abortion and gay marriage, school prayer and intelligent design.”
ILLEGALS with CIRMINAL records will get amnesty and all the social goodies that YOU will pay for.

Best damn post of the day!
Oh I know for sure we will be screwed just like in 1986....that was another tragedy that is allowing for this to happen.
These are dims... no rules remember?
But the numbers are such, this time, amnesty is the death blow.
“I have sinned”... yep... a real shyster.
This is how they plan to get back in power.
The constitutional amendment we really need is one that says that no one who lost their seat in the November election can vote on anything during the lame duck session.
Franklin Graham is a man of GOD!
I didn't hear hardly any condemnation of the abortion bill (health care murder) and I want them to keep their traps shut on this.
When satan laughs, he isn't a jolly good guy and neither is this bill.
Of course it is a dream bill for Mexico and other third world countries as they have less of a problem if they can unload a bunch of unskilled persons on to this country, but how do we absorb them?
Excellent job on both this one, and the one to Weird Al. I’m going to borrow a bit from both, thank you!
No border.....no border war.
Just say, "HELL NO!"
From your lips to God’s ears.

The Obama-trons and other anti-American scum know this is their last chance to radically change the US population and pave the way for Democrat victories for decades or forever. When the new Congress gets sworn in on January 6th no more immigration amnesties will pass
This so called Dream Act is a scam. Illegal immigrants are eligible to apply for it up to age 30. And any application you make (however ridiculous) means you cannot be deported while your application is being processed which can take 5-10 years. There will be tons of fraud and lies and millions of young illegal aliens will flood in here to take advantage of this Dream Act
I don’t care if your law breaking, identity stealing illegal alien parents brought you here at age three or age sixteen. That is your tough luck and go blame your law breaker parents. Just get the heck out. I don’t want you taking university slots from American citizens and legal immigrants.
Why do I get the nasty feeling that Glenn Beck’s ecumenical push through the ‘restored blackrobed brigade’ will be enlisted to play in this dance?
I have no idea what you are talking about. I don’t watch Glenn Beck. But I didn’t think he was on the open-borders side.
The progressives are looking for any way to divide the nation, especially the nation of god fearing people. If the progressives can fabricate a deep enough division between the revival Glenn is seeking, with his ‘restored blackrobed brigade’, and the catholic in name only and Jim Wallis type ecumenical deadsouls, they might just get enough strife to get some violence out of it! In that sense, Glenn’s ‘restored blackrobed brigade’ is a big target to create even greater division among the people, even the people not usually given to outright confrontation.
We have Lords Spiritual in the U.S.? I don't think they have 'em in England anymore.

How disgusting! What an insult to the military and to those doing a decent job in colleges.
Valid refugees languish by the thousands in God forsaken places waiting to get in and these trash Dems want to reward illegals with all the benefits of life here???!!
These Dems are absolutely immoral! They need more voters and more cannon fodder for their stupid wars and more students to brainwash in colleges.
I wonder what kind of military service they are dreaming up? The loyal fighters of Ali Bama?
