Gay rights lobbyists say they now have 61 Senate votes in hand to repeal the Don't Ask, Don't Tell ban on gays and lesbians in the military. Three Republicans are needed and at least that many have now made firm commitments to vote yes if a stand-alone repeal comes to the floor.
Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Scott Brown of Massachusetts have both said they are on board, joining Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe of Maine. That's four Republicans, one more than needed, and two more are considered possibilities.
Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., said it's now squarely up to Senate majority leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., to put repeal to a vote.
"The reality is we've got the votes," Lieberman said. "It's really up to Sen. Reid now."
Lieberman said repeal should be brought up after the spending bill to fund the government is resolved by Saturday, and before debate resumes on the START treaty, arguing that START can be passed next year, but repeal of the gay ban cannot.

This is why the Tea Party was born - and why conservatives have to defeat these RINOs that always seem to be there to pass some anti-American bill the left wants. This one could be fatal to our military strength. Senator Brown (R-MA) should be ashamed of himself. To think that Scott Brown was once celebrated on these forums. That seems like a very long time ago.
Gays shouldn’t be allowed in the military.

Because they get pissy and give our military secrets to everyone.
Brown was hired to do one thing - not vote for Obamacare. The D’s had to do something else to get Obamacare passed, and that made Democrat House members vote for something they didn’t like, and the D’s in the House got crushed last month. When Brown was elected, many thought that would stop Obamacare. It didn’t, but many house D’s lost their seats because of Brown.

These traitors should never be allowed to serve on any important committee. They need to be taken out to the political woodshed.

The left along with the scum on the so-called “right” want to destroy the military as an avenue to bring in their radical leftist agenda. According to Dana Loesch the left wants to radicalize the military into leftist activists. The Left thinks that they can split social conservatives by repealing DADT. This is also a method to distract from the Omnibus and the Tax proposals floating around.
After NOW complained about hazing at Annapolis in 1991, the Congressional Committee on Women’s Issues made a finding that senior officers who even question women’s roles in the military must be immediately dismissed. Watch for similar finding if DADT gets repealed.
I have sympathy for Scott Brown. There are many gays in the Cape and Brown is targeted by the DNC. Massachusetts is simply an impossible state. If we could not boot Barney Frank now, then when? As for Murkowski, she is a fraud - I am sad about Joe Miller.
Joe is a Democrat or lib first. That is the problem with Dems and why they are impossible. He is also pro abortion and that is a violation of Jewish law. There are some pro life Demos with principles - but they are few and far between. Bob Casey Jr. is a total phony. His father would never have supported Obama because of abortion.
He votes with the GOP on defense and some tax issues which is great, but no one should ever have thought he was a real conservative.
These guys are from socially liberal states and they are a minority. Murkowski and the bobsy twins from Maine are an anomaly. However, in NH, a Republican was elected and I believe she is a conservative so there is hope. New England is pretty much done.
Aren't there any red-state rats facing reelection in '12 that will oppose this? Nelson? Manchin? Landrieu?
And let's not forget Harry Reid is Mormon. One of those pro-gay, pro-abortion, pro-gambling, anti-military, anti-American Mormons.

And there’s this: DADT repeal will likely weaken the military. A weaker military will mean- let’s be honest- an even more vulnerable Israel. Some day he’ll realize his mistake.
Reid at one time was pro life. But you can forget it now. I hope the people of Nevada are proud of themselves for voting this two faced fraud back into office.
Perhaps along with being an observant Jew he is also a practicing fudge packer?
Maine elected a TEA Party guy governor on November 2nd.
In a matter of weeks, Maine will have one of the most conservative governors in America. The GOP also won control of the state Senate and state House. The last time the Maine GOP had control of the governorship, state House and state Senate was in the early 1960’s.
Our new Secretary of State is a conservative and an Iraq War veteran.
Snowe is up in 2012 and a TEA Party guy plans to challenge her in the primary. Collins is up in 2014. Maine needs to get rid of those two RINO bitches ASAP. I live in Maine and I’ll do my part. Our two RAT federal House members need to go, too.
