Posted on 12/16/2010 1:36:06 PM PST by rightwingintelligentsia
Christmas has been banned by the Red Cross from its 430 fund-raising shops.
Staff have been ordered to take down decorations and to remove any other signs of the Christian festival because they could offend Moslems.
The charity's politically-correct move triggered an avalanche of criticism and mockery last night - from Christians and Moslems.
Christine Banks, a volunteer at a Red Cross shop in New Romney, Kent, said: 'We put up a nativity scene in the window and were told to take it out. It seems we can't have anything that means Christmas. We're allowed to have some tinsel but that's it.
'When we send cards they have to say season's greetings or best wishes. They must not be linked directly to Christmas.
'When we asked we were told it is because we must not upset Moslems.'
Mrs Banks added: ' We have been instructed that we can't say anything about Christmas and we certainly can't have a Christmas tree.
' I think the policy is offensive to Moslems as well as to us. No reasonable person can object to Christians celebrating Christmas. But we are not supposed to show any sign of Christianity at all.'

But they aren’t offended by that big red CROSS?!?!
And why would muslims be offended by Christmas? They love to tell us how much they revere Jesus too. He’s going to be big Mo’s #1 helper when he returns.
Internationally, aren’t they red Cross- Red Crescent?
Why isn’t anyone ever worried about offending Christians?
Coming soon to a country near you/s
here is a pdf file of their “Secretariat” structure, the management suite:
The Red Cross leadership is clearly to stupid to notice, but . . .
. . . they may still have one symbol of Christmas remaining. My guess is not for long.
Went to the page and THAT pissed me off even more!
They are no longer accepting anymore comments on the article and from what I see .. They never accepted any anyway!
Good question because I’m offended that they are offended and will donate to another charity.
Maybe they’d better change their symbol.
I’ve been fed up with the Red Cross for many, many years. They used to be a great organization, but now they seem to be mainly about funding their own salaries and perks.
What do they think that cross stands (stood) for?
“Why isnt anyone ever worried about offending Christians?”
Because Christians will not cut their heads off or blow them out of the sky at 40,000 feet...
Well it is in the UK - now if it were here, I might have sauntered down to my local Red Cross office and presented my feelings about it.
God it looks like we have to clone this guy and replace most of our current politicians with clones from him.
without this is guess we are just lost!
I´m sooooo sick of all this PC crap!
I guess the muzzies aren't afraid of the Cross of St. George..................
Don’t Red Crescent ambulances in East Jerusalem have a tendency to explode?
Cool. Then I guess I’ll remove Red Cross Blood Drives from my itinerary.
Perhaps it is time to restore the red cross as a Christian symbol, and as a symbol of strength.
The sickness spreads.
“Why isnt anyone ever worried about offending Christians?”
because they don’t massacre random people to let out steam?
I’ll be cutting up my Red Cross volunteer certification.
We seem to detonate less frequently.
Somebody in the Red Cross management hierarchy authored this piece of PC claptrap. He should be fired immediately and the policy reversed.
Nothing but self loathing. Liberals are ashamed of who they are, so of course they apologize for being Christian and willingly turn their back on their traditions for a bunch of savage headchoppers.
Well, Dang!! There goes another charity down the drain.
Not to mention the cross of St. Andrew and Patrick!
Marsha J. Evans, President and CEO of the American Red Cross... salary for year ending 06/30/03 was $651,957 plus expenses.
Brian Gallagher, President of the United Way receives a $375,000 base salary, plus numerous expense benefits.
The Salvation Army's Commissioner Todd Bassett receives a salary of only $13,000 per year (plus housing) for managing this $2 billion dollar organization.
No further comment necessary
“Dont Red Crescent ambulances in East Jerusalem have a tendency to explode?”
I think they did, and for a while there were rumours that they were used to get fighters to the skirmish location. Don’t know for a fact, though.
Im offended that they are offended and will donate to another charity.I ONLY donate to Christian charities. I hope no one here is offended by that.
The UK may be lost, but if the RC in the US tried such a stunt their fund raising would flop - big time.
Yes, I have contributed dollars and blood over the years.
“Ill be cutting up my Red Cross volunteer certification.”
The American Red Cross is a different organization. Look before you leap, they seem to be OK (I don’t care for their privacy policies, but at a recent blood drive there were Christmas decorations).
Whenever I’m out and about, the red kettles always get whatever change I have in my pockets. It adds up!
The International Red Cross is a completely left-wing, anti-American and anti-Christian organization hiding behind the name of a charity. They have nothing to do with the American Red Cross and the day they embrace any of that thinking, will be the day they lose American support and money.
Do Moslems even donate to the red cross?
Don’t forget the Brits recently banned the selling of “Hot Cross Buns”, an English tradition, because they had crosses on them. The UK is headed for the dust pile of history.
ARC is not a part of the International Red Cross.
I donate three times a year.
If I lived in the UK and I gave to the Red Cross, I’d stop giving. And I’d encourage all my friends and relatives to stop giving. And I’d tell the Red Cross about this. Maybe then it would change their minds. Nothing like hitting in the pocketbook to get their attention.
My late father was a WWII veteran - he and many of his friends from the same era despised the Red Cross.
The Red Cross will never get one red cent from me.
Very true. They just hate his followers.
Besides one local charity, Homes of Grace, the Salvation Army is the only one I donate time and money to. The Salvation Army really walks it like they talks it.
Is there a master list of salaries paid to employees of tax exempt organizations? No wonder Obam wan’t everyone to wokr for or start a “non-profit”
Planned Parenthood must make billions selling fetuses to the ghoul industries.
I was told many years ago a lot of the blood drawn at blood banks was used for cosmetics. Never verified, don’t really know....
The Red Cross bans Christmas (to avoid offending Muslims)
I would (naively) guess that The Red Crescent organization won’t be
banning greetings for Ramadan and Eid Al Fittar (sp?) at their shops.
Oh, that’s right...there are virtually no Christians there to offended
about Muslim observances.
They’ve mostly been tortured then murdered, except for the ones that
have fled the Muslim countries.
The cross was always a sign of mercy and help.. The crescent on the other hand is a sign of beheading and murder..
The Red cross better never ask me for money..I will send them to Arabia
Because we haven’t shot back lately.
Praise the lord and pass the ammunition.
They’ve also changed the name from “Red Cross” to “Green Crescent.”
I say the UK Red Cross needs to be banned.
If this is being done so as not to offend Muslims, what about the Christians it offends? Are they going to be open on Christmas Day? This is political correctness gone way too far and way wrong.
Where have you got this nonsense from? I had some fantastic hot cross buns last easter and look forward to next easter for more of the same.

Only real sour-pusses would be offended by such a thing.
Once you get a national population with about 5% Islamics,
it’s no longer your country.
No matter how much taxes or blood you’ve paid with.
