* American President left off the guest list as it is not a 'state occasion' * Royal couple eager to ask ordinary citizens to attend rather than VIPs * Heads of State who may attend include Nicolas Sarkozy and wife Carla Bruni

President Obama and his wife Michelle will not be invited to Prince William's wedding next year.

Royal sources revealed yesterday that the American President and his wife are not among the congregation as William's wedding to Kate Middleton is not classed as a 'state occasion' - as the Prince is not yet heir to the throne.

Courtiers suggested they are more eager to ask ordinary citizens and charity workers than foreign dignitaries and VIPs at the 'people's wedding'. Uninvited: Royal sources have revealed that President Obama and his wife Michelle are not going to be invited to the Royal wedding as it is not classed as a state occasion

The Mail also understands that the couple are under no pressure to fill the 2,000 seats at Westminster Abbey with foreign dignitaries.

Despite the Obamas not being invited, a number of heads of state are likely attend the ceremony on April 29 in line with previous royal weddings, possibly including France's president Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni.

I take the snub not as a insult to America but rather an exercise in English decorum.

... ordinary citizens and charity workers than foreign dignitaries and VIPs at the 'people's wedding'.

Sounds positively proletarian. Maybe they can all don worker uniforms.

I'm sure the Obamas are doubly disappointed at this snub.

Didn’t Obama snub a state dinner his first trip to Europe so he could take his wife out? Alone. Charles doesn’t want a whipped man around his kids.

Their ridiculous security arrangements for Bambi would have the TSA groping all the guests and no parking or traffic movement for 10 block radius.

I'll bet he's gotten more threats than any other president in the history of our country!!!

England should tell our party boy and his wife that if they take the bust of Winston Churchill back and publicly apologize for sending it back and plant a big kiss on the forehead of the bust, they will then be allowed into the country for the wedding.

Or even to recognize a fork...

Oh and how about her clothes...shudder...

Of course he could always go as a Kenyan prince...

I really like your future King William and his soon-to-be bride. I think Diana’s sons are good guys, and I hope neither ever gets interested in their goofy father’s *interests*.

I am certain Her Majesty has no use at all for the Obama’s...LOL.
