John McCain, R-Ariz., who opposes the amendment to repeal the military's 17-year-old ban on openly gay troops, Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, during a rally on Capitol Hill in Washington. (AP) WASHINGTON -- After two failed attempts, Congress appears poised to repeal the Clinton-era ban on gays serving openly in the military, with Senate set for a historic vote that could seal a major triumph for President Obama, liberals and the gay community.

Yep, sad to say. I've been warning for weeks and weeks in my little habit-forming weekly thingy.

“This is part of the plan to clear the good guys out of the military. Then the lib leaders in the military will have no problem using the military on civilians.”

Then they will have to fight those civilians, many of whom are military veterans, and many of those will be ones who got out of the military because of this horrendous bill.

“How the stupid party could manage to turn November’s big win into this cluster is beyond me. I’m going to go cry for a while.”

They are not stupid. They are accomplices.

The two major parties are at most rival teams working within the same franchise. They are not enemies, and they both feed at the same trough. Their basic self interests are identical.

Even better, now you can die for those women and “men” while they serve right next to you! Good luck administering first aid to a deviant bleeding like a stuck pig in a foxhole next to you.

I’d imagine medics will be the first to leave the service after this absurdity...

Let’s bring back the draft. Here’s hoping those that supported the repeal and/or their kids are the ones drafted.

“I’m supposed to expect gays to protect me and my country?”

God, how I hate Democrats. They routinely introduce legislation harmful to the Republic.

I have never understood why gays INSIST on the whole world knowing they’re gay. When this idiot reform gets passed, I suspect there will be several gays getting beat up by groups of straights. Just let one of them make an overture to a straight person and all hell will break loose. I really think it will cause more problems than it solves.

Just my own thoughts.

Well, on the bright side - if the conservative military culture is transformed into the general American’s at-the-mall-culture, the military’s absentee votes in elections might start being counted more often. (sarcasm)

“When do we start talking secession...”

It is already under way in some quarters. I don’t think it has legs personally. I think the United States will dissolve one day in the next few years in a similar manner and for similar reasons as the Soviet Union did.

It will NOT be reconstituted. Some regions will go their own way.

“Buy guns and ammo now while you can. When the Military is too busy playing with each other we may have to defend the country ourselves.”

Yup.

I think Murkowski also voted yes.

On the positive side, today was probably the last day of relevance for Snow, Collins, and Brown. With the alignment of the new Senate, republicans will not need them to sustain a filibuster and the democrats will not be able to use them to invoke cloture. They will have no value to either party and no record of loyalty to fall back on. They will be allowed to labor in obscurity without the ability to deliver special favors to the voters of their states.

“Watch for return of compulsory draft.”

The United States will never have a compulsory draft again. People will remember the mass pardon of the dodgers back in the 1970s, and the government will be a lot more accountable about where it sends troops if they are not 100% volunteers. The volunteer military let them send people into situations that most European governments (and populations), which until recently had compulsory service, would have never tolerated. What many Americans regarded as European cowardliness in terms of military action was actually caused by the fact that most of Europe had such requirements until the last ten or twenty years, and the European people wouldn’t tolerate having those lives pissed away lightly.

Obama was put in the presidency to destroy America.

He is simply doing what he is supposed to do.

In a “good” job market, the result of this would be that we’d be seeing mass exodus from the enlisted ranks when their current tours are up. Of course, I think many will not care about civilian job prospects and get out anyway.

Oh, and good luck with recruitment in the future.

Let’s bring back the draft. Here’s hoping those that supported the repeal and/or their kids are the ones drafted.

Unfortunately, I think that was the plan all along, so that they can then brainwash a whole new generation of fly-over country hicks (clinging to their guns and religion) on the normal and natural behavior of fudge packing. I don't want my son drafted into a gay pride platoon and be nervous about the fag in the next bunk.

Marine Commandant General James Amos has stated several times that openly practicing homosexualism will kill Marines.

Any senator voting in support of DADT is knowingly and quite purposefully destroying and weakening America's military and is willfully contributing to the murder of Marines.

Names and States of any senator which vote in support of legislation to repeal DADT should be make public.
