Senate Republicans blocked a measure Saturday that would have offered provisional legal status to some adults who came to America illegally as children.

Democratic backers of the legislation fell short of the 60 votes to move the DREAM Act legislation forward. Democratic Sens. Mark Pryor of Arkansas, Jon Tester of Montana, Max Baucus of Montana, Kay Hagan of North Carolina, and Ben Nelson of Nebraska voted against bringing the bill to the floor; Republican Sens. Richard Lugar, Lisa Murkowski, and Robert Bennett voted for it. The vote was 55-41.

The AP story says the same thing:

WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Republicans have blocked a bill to grant hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants brought to the United States as children a chance to gain legal status if they enroll in college or join the military.

Does anyone know how Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill voted on the Dream Act?

I've sent my snotty-gram to Lugar. If anyone else is interested:

http://lugar.senate.gov/contact/contactform.cfm

Mot likely it won't matter. I suspect this turd is going to retire. He's not inline at all with the general public in Indiana; his votes seem to indicate he doesn't plan on answering for it later. I'm more than a little irritated with that puke right now.

They already go to school and join the military

Orchestrated propaganda masquerading as the Fourth Estate. If Wikileaks can bring down governments, we can use the same tactics to bring down the Leftist media. These people are beyond the pale...

They already go to school. They may not join the military unless they are legal residents. If they attempt to enroll as illegals and lie, they are prosecuted for fraud.

The Good Lord continues to watch over our country.

I hope DADT will eventually fail. I’m concerned enlisted folks will be quitting in droves. I would.

Lugar has long needed to be voted out, but he keeps being elected because he is so intellectual, so moderate, so reasonable--he's so DEMOCRAT and LIBERAL. I do believe he would vote to do away with our Constitution and go under international court and global govt. In fact, he is doing that now and for the past 2 decades.-----Arrrgh!

We need to start posting the names, resumes and addresses of the people who run the Leftist media. Who are these jerks/ Where do they live? How do they live? Who funds them? Where did they go to school? Who are their friends? Let's, in this age of ultimate transparency, challenge the dominant paradigm. Let's expose these creators of reality to public scrutiny... WE WANT PICTURES!!!!!!!

The DREAM is dead. This is such freaking good news, because there was so much more included in the bill that the media wasn’t talking about. It sounded like such a “compassionate” bill but when you get into the details you realize how far reaching/extreme it really is.

Exactly right. Really scary stuff.

Thanks, Alaska! Keep electing Murk and her ilk and you will indeed be able to see Russia from you house, no matter where in Alaska you live.

I assume this means it’s dead and nothing will be done in the next few days or the next congress, as the GOP won’t be initiating any “dream act”.

I guess it doesn’t surprise anyone that the MSM coverage refused to mention the part of the act that would allow these “new citizens” to sponsor their family members. So letting in this suppose 1 - 2 million is really closer to 8 - 10 million of more - mommy, daddy, brothers, sisters, granny and grampa. Every illegal kid in the country old enough for college or the military would enroll so the rest of the family would have a path to citizenship and a right to stay in the country for as long as that took. All the have to do is get a government grant and go to college for two years. They wouldn’t even have to graduate. What a joke. It’s clear if was a backdoor way for amnesty for at least 6-8 million illegals here now.

The MSM continues as the greatest threat to the America of our forefathers, as it uses it’s power day after day to brainwash and program America. Listen to people speaking if they even bother to talk about politics, they regurgitate what they hear on CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC,MSNBC.

It’s all so freaking sad that people listen to the crap the MSM spews and accept it, make decisions based on it and spread it to other people.

It’s not over yet.

Obama has put ICE on ice. Deportations will be gutted by executive or DOJ/DHS fiats.

DOJ will continue to harrass states that enforce immigration laws.

Obama and DHS, much like the EPA & FCC, will change the law via changes in department regulations and standards. Not to mention states which try to have their own mini-versions of the Dream Act.

Congress must still be vigilant....WE MUST STILL BE VIGILANT.

THE BATTLE FOR DUNE CONTINUES....

He says that he/she is a Democrat voter.

But do not fool yourself, the homosexual’s desire to serve in the military is not their issue. This is a Trojan Horse for them to implement to the rest of their agenda.

For a hint, go back to the 18 year vote campaign. Theame slogans will be applied to the homosexuals.

The destruction of the family unit via the destruction of marriage is their goal.

Agreed, every time an idea has some politically reasonable image, others hang their ornament on the tree until it tips over.

Having spent much time with Marines that were also Mexican citizens, I have no problem fast tracking them to American citizenship. You can't be more American than to be willing to die for America.

Keep the bill simple and recognize deserving people only.

It's AMAZING a homosexual is responsible for the wikileaks disaster- doing it because he was angry with the military- and we're basically giving him what he wanted.

Frightening!
