The Senate has just voted to end debate on a bill that would lift the ban on gays serving openly in the military, essentially clearing the measure for passage and signature by the president.

Lawmakers voted 63 to 33 to end debate on the current policy, put in place by former president Bill Clinton, informally known as "don't ask don't tell."

The Senate could vote on final passage of the measure as early as today but it will most likely happen on Sunday or Monday.

"We are on the verge of ending 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' for good," Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said after the vote "This is one of those moments in our history when we stepped up and squared our policies with the values this nation was founded upon."

Gays have more money than Latinos.

And perhaps more dirt on the rascals in the Congress?

Unemployment is nearing 10%, the country is broke and and all Stinky Harry Reid can think about is homosexuals and illegal aliens. Weird.

Great point.

WHY is a Queer Military a priority-issue at all for the US Senate?

I wish I could blame Reid alone, but 62 other treasonous, treacherous Senate-slime also deemed this Priority #1.

Folks, there are clearly forces behind the scenes sabotages the Republic. If something's not done soon, the Senate is apt to vote change the American Flag to this:

NOT the intention of the Founders. OR the US Military. OR of the citizenry of this Republic.

This pretty much sums up how I feel about these atheistic idiots trying to tear down America and rebuild it in their evil image.

The end game is the deconstruction of the military. The left is using the gay issue as a tool just as they use the environment as a tool, race as a tool, gender as a tool, children as a tool, food as a tool ...

The coward Kirk’s office will not even take calls. I called McConnell’s office and expressed a need to protect those who chose not to serve with gays. If these people fear the Tea Party so much, the Tea Party needs to rise up and demand, no force, the House and Senate to provide honorable discharges for any military member who is deemed a CONSICENCENT OBJECTOR to serving with openly homosexual military members. No military member should EVER be forced to live with a homosexual against their will.

As my wife will attest, I rarely admit to being wrong and never ask for directions, but this time I was very WRONG. I have meet with Kirk many times while he was a Congressman. I was stupid to believe he would not screw the military, he really is a horses a$$ and never again will I vote for him.

I am going to say something that I am sure will get me flamed....I also won't be on FR for most of the day, so others will call it a hit and run.....but....

I think most here are really overreacting to DADT. Although I, personally, think homosexuality is a sin, I think this isone sin I will let God handle in the afterlife.

I also think divorce, and adultery, are sins but I don't think anyone here would ever say that we can't have a divorced soldier. I also know that the military has, in place, many sexual harassment statutes for their female soldiers, so I think any harassment charges could be handled in that way (if a gay soldier propositions a straight soldier).

Another thing to remember, is that whether we like it or not, most young people (todays soldiers) don't view homosexuality the same way as the older people do. My husband is a Veteran, and 25 years ago when he was a soldier there is no way a gay serviceman would be tolerated. This just isn't the case today (as the recent survey proved).

I just don't think that just because someone is gay, they can't be the best damn soldier in the world. They can be proud Americans, and they can (and do) fight for my freedoms, just as the straight soldiers do now.

As I said, homosexuality is a sin, but let's let God sort it out! Let's let the brave men and women that want to serve our country, serve.

OK, flame retardant suit is firmly in place.

Voinovich isn’t running again, and Sherrod Brown is a noted liberal, so their vote today on DADT is not going the way I want it to. They don’t care about my opinion.

However, I will not support any of these senators who vote in favor of this in any way and at any time for anything.

No money, no work, not a whisper.

According to Harry Reid, buggery was one of the “values this nation was founded upon.”

Bingo. Go back and look at the roll call for each piece of legislation. Another astute Freeper mentioned on the live thread that DREAM yes votes were probably traded for DADT yes votes.

This vote to move DADT into Senate for passage is nothing more than the group with the most money and power winning.

For all the work so many of us did, what did we really gain in the November elections? I am really starting to wonder...
