WASHINGTON -- In a landmark vote, the Senate on Saturday ended the Clinton-era ban on gays serving openly in the military, marking a major triumph for President Obama, liberals and the gay community.

The final vote to end the Pentagon's 1993 "don't ask, don't tell" policy was 65-31, drawing support from eight Republicans.

The bill now goes to the White House for Obama's signature. He is expected to sign the bill into law next week, a senior White House aide told Fox News.

I don't know if that's true or accurate. I couldn't find any confimation in a quick search. But if true, this bears repeating:

analysis of a FY 2009 study found that of all the sexual assaults in the military, 8.2% of them were same-sex in nature. Comparing that to the general civilian population, homosexuals in the military are three times more likely to commit sexual assaults relative to their population. Most of these assaults were men fondling or attempting oral sex on other men while the victim slept or was intoxicated.

Furthermore, a September 2010, CDC fact sheet shows men having sex with men account for 48% of all HIV cases in the United States. While men having sex with men account for only 4% of the entire population, they are 44 times more likely to be diagnosed with HIV. In setting public policy, both commanders and politicians must remember that these are blood-borne diseases. What will commanders do about blood transfusions on the battlefield?

That’s my hope as well.

Plus this: http://www.leadershipinstitute.org/training/

We need to arm ourselves with techniques that will win elections. Not just at the national level, but at the state and local levels.

My belief is that we’re being muscled into beliefs that go against the natural grain of Americans. People are naturally conservative in America.

We can get it back - step by step. That’s the method. Expose the lies and keep moving the ball down field.

Video tape it and post it.

If you had a heterosexual friend, man or woman, who regularly went for sex with strangers they met at public toilets you’d think they were sick and weird.

It isn’t bigotry it’s reality.

In addition to the six Republicans who voted for cloture on the repeal bill — Sens. Scott Brown (R-Mass), Susan Collins (R-Alaska), Mark Kirk (R-Ill.), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) and George Voinovich (R-Ohio) — Republicans Sens. Richard Burr (N.C.) and John Ensign (Nev.) voted for the final passage of the repeal bill.

So these eight are guilty of loving an abomination. Has Palin spoken out on this yet?....especially since both Alaskan Senators voted for sodomy.

Define “troublemaker”

If you are a moral, upright and hardworking individual, there will not be any problem. However, if you are an immoral reprobate, an ass-kissing weasel—always looking to shirk your duties onto somebody else—then you get a bullet to the back of the head. I have no sympathy for you. DIE—and get out of the way. It is high time for hard discipline upon a nation of spoiled rotten, selfish, whining crybabies, and the perverts they empower.

Well, it's obvious from what you say that your heart's in the right place, but it just seems to me that you might be a little too trusting in the goodness of people. What makes you so certain that the powers that be will always be as charitable as you are when it comes to defining troublemakers?

In short, what if the powers that be deem folks like you and me to be troublemakers?

I don't trust leaders and don't believe in giving them so much power.

Amen! The day our politicians fear the Tea Party more than they fear the MSM is the day We Win. And it is fast approaching. A time of reckoning is coming for these RINOs, and they’d better straighten up now or they won’t have a job then.

I have lived in and spent time in military dictatorships and I don’t believe that you want any part of that experience as a citizen.

Living under an Allende or an Obama may be worse. Certainly, living under an Allende was worse for the citizens of Chile and they got fed up and changed to a far superior leadership.

I hope people such as Pinochet and McCarthy would get a fairer assessment sometime.

And you would be happy when the general’s neice takes a liking to your home and your military dictator sents troops to evict you.

I don't have anything against the general's family, but I think you have my views mixed up with the views of the other poster. I'm the one who doesn't believe in military dictatorships.

I will have both the Rosary AND the the steel blade of a broad sword. The time is upon us to deal with our corrupt leaders in the most definite of terms.

I would have no remorse at cleaving such scoundrels straight through to the marrow. Such end is fitting to their kind, and one which they fully deserve.

The unflinching stroke of the Knight’s broad sword is the only true justice for these reprobate creatures.

Pray for their souls if you choose... I rather them dead, and the sooner the better.

Huge Pandora’s box has just opened.

I hope all the non-leftist Obama-Congressional RAT voters out there who said "What harm could he do, Clinton didn't do much damage in 2-4 years" are happy with themselves.

The destructive actions of these vermin in 2 years has been massive.

Yes, we have "stopped" them with last November's vote, but

The RATS are burning down the house like Saddam Hussein did the oil fields on their way out.

“...progressives will have destroyed America.”

Then we need to get serious, and destroy the progressives... and I DO mean literally.

Life or Death struggle: Us or them. Do you wish to see your country die? No? Then FORGET cooperation, FORGET reformation, FORGET civility. It is time to take up the sword and lop off heads. If you have not the stomach for that, then suffer the loss of all you hold sacred... including the future of your children.

That would be a small thing. How 'bout when the Department of Defense proclaims Gay Heritage Month!
