Muslim Immigrants Get Santa Cancelled in Minnesota

(CathNews) Santa will not be visiting students in St. Peter, Minnesota this year. Muslim immigrants got him cancelled. The MinnPost reported, via Pat Dollard:

Santa Claus, as portrayed by Dennis Jackson, won’t be visiting students at the Head Start classes in St. Peter this year.

Jackson has made appearances the past four years at the classes for students who need help preparing for school, but this year officials said, “No, no, no.”

The reason: The classes have many immigrant children who don’t celebrate Christmas, says the Mankato Free Press.

Santa’s a little frosted, the paper says.

It kind of burnt me up,” he said.

The official explanation from Chris Marben, who coordinates regional Head Start programs through Mankato-based Minnesota Valley Action Council: “We have Somali families in the program. We’re respecting the wishes of families in the program.”

She didn’t say how many objections were made, but said more than one would be enough to cancel Santa…

Jackson said he’s played Santa with children from other cultures before and they were fully comfortable with him. He said it’s their parents who are being unreasonable.

“They’re not respecting the majority,” he said. “My feeling is (objecting parents) can take their kids out of class for half an hour and let the other kids enjoy it. They should sacrifice, not rule.”

How many “immigrants” are there in this class/school?

Earlier this year a gang of Somalians fought Ethiopians for control of the drug traffic in central Syntagma square in Athens Greece.

Both sides went at it with machettes, cutlases, hatchets and knives...leaving a couple of dead and numerous body parts strewn around.

The good news is that there is no mosque in Athens so far.

I would not ask them to "sacrifice". He might regret how they interpret that word.

There appears to be some ..uhh...con-fu-sion about this issue...

Important Information for Concerned Citizens

The Minnesota Head Start Association, Inc. does not run Head Start Programs and has no oversight of
local programs and policies. Head Start Programs have local authority to set policies and make
decisions based on the needs of their local communities, the parents served by the programs and
their organizations' governing boards. The following is a statement from the local program that
serves St. Peter, MN as they worked with their community and parents to resolve an issue
about holiday celebrations.
Thank you for your interest in this local issue and its resolution.

Subject: Response

In Minnesota Valley Action Council Head Start, our emphasis has always been on the children and families involved in the early childhood program.
* The goal has been to foster all holidays as a time of joy & celebration.
* We provide group activities that all of the children can participate in.
* They have been busy making ginger bread houses, snowflakes & snow men.
* Our emphasis has been on what brings us together.

There has not been a ban on Santa Claus, as the media has liked to make this. In fact, a Santa
Claus was in the community center large motor room on Friday 12/17/10 and children & parents
that wanted to go see him had the opportunity to do that. Santa Claus just wasn't going to be in the classroom.

The discussion around this issue has been a larger question. It is one about democracy, where the
majority opinion rules. We understand that, and utilize that in our parent meetings. Our
goal has always been to create an atmosphere where every child feels safe & comfortable in our Head Start classrooms.
This isn't an issue about someone winning or losing, or of an opinion held by a few, dictating to the majority.

When it comes to the annual discussion about how parents of children in the Head Start program want
to share the holidays, We believe we can develop strategies together where all children
benefit.

Not as long as the place is named “St. Peter”; I’m sure changing that is in the works, too.

Any government apparatchik who gives in to Muslim demands is nothing but a g.d. traitor.

Thanks Yehuda (and check post #128). Yes, the sounds of 'change'and we know those sounds are not a New York musical. Past time to throw off the shackles of 'political correctness' and reclaim New York; the clock is ticking. More need to join the cause.

(And of course, the struggle lies far and beyond the streets of New York; it permeates almost every facet of American life and it's environs.)

Islam is a vile, barbaric, gutter religion for a vile, barbaric, gutter people. It and its adherents should be wiped from the face of the earth, starting in America.

Reject the tyranny of the minority. Indeed and reject it, wherever it attempts to impact and by whatever numbers. These people plan to be someday, a 'majority' - and have to say, 'demographics' are in their favor.

That said; can only ask 'why' these things are allowed to pass; albeit, can only imagine the propagandizing that passes for honest debate that culminates in 'democratic agreement'. Meantime, this story is becomming all too common in it's theme of outrageous protocols enacted, that favor Muslims and degrade America's non-Muslim citizenry and their traditions.

We keep reading, reading and hearing of these atrocious moves against America; what/where. . . IS the response in these communities? (Beyond the rationale that they are all busy working so as to support their families. . .)

They’re offended by the “religious” symbol of Santa Claus.

LOL.

This isn’t an attack on a religion, this is an attack on the American culture.

His portrayal in the secular ungodly media is not the good saints’s fault! I agree that words mean “stuff” - let’s read about Saint Nicholas the Wonder worker’s and then practice what he preached:

And let’s support the rebuilding of his home in NYC despite the secularists’ attempt to chase him away:

Just wanted to ask, will the day come, when there will no Christmas. They do not want anyone saying Merry Christmas, like all big dept stores, to use Wamart as an example, we get happy holidays. God when i was a kid we didn’t have staff stuff like this, saying of happy holidays. 99.9 % of these folks never hade a christmas. How many of their opinions would change be they to wake up on 25th finding gifts for them under the tree. Most come come from countries who have very little to offer in terms of christmas. They want the new way of life here, but at the same time, they do hold dear to the old customs of their native countries /where/they hold on too and think that is the way life is suppose to be here. But they have to do their part as well in they want to embrace America. But they always play the victims. If America customs offended so many, why not return to their country where the culture is as they want it to be ?

Thank you. I also like the idea of telling them that if they misbehave Santa will jump out of their closet in the middle of the night and beat them with switches.

Give me a break. I remember Santa visiting my kindergarten class. He gave me a cheap little trinket and said “hohoho”. I liked it so much that I wanted to make Christmas decorations in our house, but my parents told me we were Jewish, so we don’t do that. Thus began a lifelong quest to answer my five-year-old-boy question: “What are Jews?” And it all started with a fat guy, a fake beard and red suit, and a plastic toy. Thank you, Santa. Object to it? Ha! He started a dialogue that still continues to this day.

I think I’ll move to Saudi Arabia and demand they stop celebrating Ramadan there. They will be as accommodating of us as we are of them, right?

We shouldn’t be settling these refugee populations in the US in the first place. At the very least, the communities and states which have to deal with them should have a say in whether or not the come.
