Following this weekend's vote by the Senate to allow gays to openly serve in the military, Del. Bob Marshall (R-Prince WIlliam) said he is drafting a bill for the 2011 legislative session that would ban them from serving in the Virginia National Guard.

And he will find a way to do it, too.
I don’t live in VA any longer, but I worked in Manassas for a while and I’m glad to see this. For an interesting view into the left’s mental state, read the comments section of this story on the WaPo site.
This is hilarious, and I think it is a winner.
Interestingly, it dovetails to a 10th Amendment resolution motion that is pending in half a dozen States, called “Defend the Guard”.
Defend the Guard
“Under the Constitution, the militia (now called the National Guard) may only be called into duty by the federal government in three specific situations. According to Article I, Section 8; Clause 15, the Congress is given the power to pass laws for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions.
“The militia was intended by the Founders and Ratifiers to be defense force and nothing more. Deployments outside the country were not considered, and neither were internal deployments in pursuance of powers that were not delegated to the federal government.
“Congress has passed numerous laws in the past 100 years giving the federal government additional authority not mentioned in the Constitution. But, without amendment, altering the enumerated powers by legislative fiat is, in and of itself, unconstitutional. Campaigns in states around the country are working to reassert the authority of governors over guard troops.”
I sure hope so. I’m so sick of this garbage.
Good for you, Delegate Marshall! It is good to see an elected leader stand up to the homosexual agenda. There should be a ban on homosexuals in the military.
It is amazing that a small but loud group that is 1% - 2% of the population can get their demands met by spineless politicians.
I hope he does and it gets passed. However, the federal government, not the state, pays for most of the expense of running and paying members of the guard. Plus, the homos will sue in federal court.
How do you keep the federal government from defunding the guard in that state? Hopefully, the new House under Republican control won’t let that happen.
IF every conservative state would pass a similiary law...it could start a moment that would derail the idiotcy of the lame duck congress. Actually, the more I think about it, the better this sounds. Even though I know it will be shot down by judicial tyrants...it would send a strong message that the “assimilation” process is not going well and the SecDef cannot rationally certify things as okie dokie.
