Study: Christmas Trees Make Those Who Don’t Celebrate Holiday Feel Excluded

(NewsCore) - So much for a holly, jolly Christmas.

A newly released study found that Christmas tree displays can “harm the emotional well-being” of those who do not celebrate the holiday.

Researchers at Canada’s Simon Fraser University (SFU) studied the psychological effect that Christmas displays have by asking test participants to work in a room that either contained a Christmas tree or did not.

The results showed that for those participants who did not celebrate the holiday, being in a room with a Christmas tree made them feel less sure of themselves.

The result was the opposite for those who did celebrate Christmas, as they reported feeling more positive after spending time in the presence of a decorated tree.

Participants with non-Christian religious backgrounds – Sikhs and Buddhists, for instance – reported less self-assurance and feeling less included at the university when they were in the presence of a Christmas tree.

The results showed that for those participants who did not celebrate the holiday, being in a room with a Christmas tree made them feel less sure of themselves.

The solution is obvious. They should learn about Christmas and start celebrating it so they won't feel excluded.

Utter BS. I don’t feel left out in the presence of Menorah’s.

amazing study, that... Prager said this today: “when we go to someone’s birthday party, since it is not OUR birthday, we are excluded and should therefore be offended..

strange times...

RE: Someone who prostrates themselves six times daily to the east does the same to me!!

Actually, the minimum required is 5 times. Whoever does it 6 times or more must have lots of time in his hands.

RE: There’s always Festivus. (Where’s the aluminum pole?)

I don’t have grievances, and I am quite weak after eating food that caused me several days of diarhea, can I still celebrate Festivus ?

People can chose to be offended or not.

I respectfully disagree. We cannot control our feeling (being offended or not). What we can and should control, however, is the decision of what to do with this feeling of being offended. Some of us may be offended by merely the presence of loud liberals in our neighborhood. Doesn't mean we do something or whine about them, like these people do.

It harms my emotional well-being by being denied seeing Christmas trees outside. So there!

So they poll 42% non-christians. Big deal. How many were hard-core atheists? T'sk.

And more particularly...How many were foreigners who brought their old pagan religion with them? IT doesn't mean anything. If the foreigners feel out of place in North America...it is because THEY ARE and should leave if they don't assimilate.

Isn't this the same as going to a pool party and feeling "excluded" because you don't swim?

Nobody "excluded" you - you have excluded yourself.

I don't feel left out at the presence of Menorah's either. I can even say the Brucha. I feel left out if I don't get a plate of Kuegle and Latkes.

They don’t celebrate Christmas then of course they will be left out. That just kind of makes sense given that it’s Christmas. What’s the problem ?

What is it about Christmas that gets non-christians all in a lather? Liberals are all for tolerance and acceptance of *their* religion but not others.

Black History month - I feel excluded.

Saint Patrick’s day - leprecauns, corned beef, green beer - not everyone is Irish. Really.

Puerto Rican parades - where’s mine?

Mardi Gras - sorry, not my cultural background to pig out and party before Lent - very alienating.

Pep rallies and school dances - when will they ever celebrate nerds? It still hurts.
