Brian Aitken, who was convicted of illegally possessing two handguns that he had legally purchased in Colorado, will be spending Christmas out of prison.

Gov. Chris Christie commuted Aitken's sentence, from seven years to time served, according to an order the governor signed today.

Aitken had appealed to Christie for commutation after being sentenced in August. According to the commutation order, Aitken will be released as "soon administratively possible."

In 2009, Aitken was arrested for possessing two handguns and ammunition -- the guns were unloaded -- after state police found them in the trunk of his car. Aitken was visiting his mother in Burlington County when she became concerned about his well-being and called police.

I am glad Christie did this but he was arrested for two legal guns in his trunk? Gun owners always joke the NJ State Police have uniforms like the SS.

Should have been a full pardon but I’m glad he at least got out of jail. Jury nullification would have been an even better solution, but that’s asking a bit much from the sheeple.

Not good enough, Cristie. He still has a conviction as if he actually did something wrong. FAIL!

He should be absolved of all charges!

Yep...he may be home, but he's still a convicted felon...goodbye firearms.

The criminal act here is Christie's failure to grant a full pardon.

Nobody feels better about this than his mother, it was that do gooder social worker that called the cops and turned her own son in.

She regretted doing it, but none the less, if it wasn't for her calling 911 none of this would have happened.

Mrs. politically correct steps into a pile of steaming social justice, and it squirts all over her own son.

Thanks mom.

Agreed. Christie should have pardoned him.

You are right. Mea culpa. A pardon is what is needed, all rights re-instated.

Good for Gov Christie. What a sickening story. This man did nothing and was in prison for years?? Meanwhile violent scumbags are allowed to roam the streets. No wonder there is no trust in the “justice” system. The lefties who screamed bloody murder about Bush taking away our rights and all that nonsense should be concerned about this kind of dangerous authority.

Aitken had appealed to Christie for commutation. Didn't request a pardon.
