Good Riddance to the 111th Congress
The Washington Times ^ | 12/20/2010 | Frank Donatelli

What comes to mind when you think of "the worst"? President James Buchanan. The 1962 Mets. Vanilla Ice. Now add to that list the 111th Congress, which is finally slated to wrap up business this week. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi just didn't want to give up that gavel. This may have been the worst Congress since Lyndon Johnson's landslide ushered in the Congress that gave us the Great Society and the Vietnam War. Memo to voters: Democratic landslides are usually followed by disastrous results.

The 111th Congress got off to a fast start. Barely two weeks into the Obama era, it enacted an $800 billion stimulus bill, the largest in American history. Why take any time to study the contents when you know exactly what to do? The problem was that most of the money went to states to preserve the jobs of government workers. Some stimulus. The president said it would keep unemployment at 8 percent. It is now near 10 percent.

Next came the infamous "cash for clunkers" program, which disrupted the used-car market, mandated destruction of perfectly usable older vehicles and subsidized purchases of autos, most of which would have been purchased in any case. But coming in tandem with the Obama administration giving the auto unions a huge share of a new government-run General Motors, the United Auto Workers were quite satisfied. (snip)

We'll be paying the price of the 111th Congress for years to come ...

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi just didn't want to give up that gavel.

It's an outrage she will reside in John Boehner's old office (while he moves into her posh corner office).

Pelosi belongs in the Capitol basement, next to the furnace, for all the injustices she has inflicted on innocent Americans.....

.........such as the O'care abomination.

Under Pelosi’s watch the national debt skyrocketed.

Under Pelosi’s watch Congress adjourned without passing a budget for the first time since 1974.

Under Pelosi’s watch the democrRAT party was handed its biggest losses in generations.

Under Pelosi’s watch the number of women in congress has been reduced to numbers reminiscent of the 1970s.

By any measurable or reasonable standard, Nancy Pelosi, as a leader, has been a colossal failure.

She is great at one thing, though. She knows how to create jobs for Republican lawmakers.

This is one Congress for the history books.

I bet this is going to be one of the top 3-4 sessions studied for the next 150 years if not longer.

This will go down the memory hole. If we do not change things this year, the only thing that will be talked about 100 years from now is how the united nations rose to be the worlds governing body with George Soros as it’s first President.

......the Obama administration gave the UAW a huge share of the new gov-run General Motors......

GM received $50 billion in TARP funds (forget that TARP was only supposed to cover financial institutions). So how did GM---a bankrupt company still hemorrhaging money---recently pay back five years earlier than necessary, a multi-billion dollar govt loan?

Where did GM get the money?

Could it be that the mountain of Obama's govt bailout cash was overkill---doling out much more than necessary? That the GM repayment is nothing other than a political and marketing ploy whereby the govt gets repaid with the very same money they handed out?

WE BETTER CALL THE COPS Over-lending on a loan to achieve quick initial repayment (and thus inflate the loan's perceived value), in the private sector, is called fraud.

But it’s a rotten fish they’re wrapping in an old Chicago Tribune!

Better yet, exchange the stapler for a shovel.

When we put her in the basement, she might as well earn her keep shoveling coal into the furnace....LOL

Pelosi belongs in prison. There's a bit of a difference.

America may have vomited up some of the vile poison it swallowed. The question remains, “will it survive?”
