New Census Data Brings Good News for Democrats
By John Aloysius Farrell

Today's U.S. Census Bureau report will confirm what average Americans have known, and political scientists have recognized, for decades: the Sun Belt states continue to gain population, members of Congress and votes in the Electoral College at the expense of their northern counterparts. The weather down South and out West is better.
Superficial analysis will hail this as a political windfall for Republicans, largely because Texas is expected to pick up four congressional seats.
Recent history, however, warns against such claims. In winning three of the last five presidential elections, the Democrats have shown their ability to compete in the Sun Belt, especially in the West. Even in last November's disaster, the Continental Divide acted as a firewall, with Democrats winning crucial statewide elections in Colorado, Nevada, California and Washington.
The reason is pretty obvious: Republicans have a problem with minority voters. Multi-racial coalitions gave Barack Obama victory in Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, California and other crucial states in 2008. Yes, the Sun Belt is growing, but to a great extent that growth is Hispanic. Newt Gingrich can take all the Spanish lessons he wants, but the Tea Party Republicans won't let their party bend on immigration. Senate Republicans did themselves no favor by rejecting so moderate and fair a measure as the DREAM Act last week.
Politics runs in cycles.

Which will only help secure Hispanic support. John has a lot to learn.
Legal immigrants realize they came here for a reason. They don’t want the hellhole they escaped from following them
Capsule summary of article:
“The Republicans just *seem* to have won. But the *truth* is that they lost, because they are *Republicans*.”
I bet the author uses the word “inconceivable!” a lot.
No wonder they think it's good news for dems, if they think the reason for the population growth is weather.
How about "right to work" states?
Many states have zero income tax
Why do they vote liberal, and against America then?
They can go back. Any time!
Moonbat sez WUT? Must be talking about the re-election of the idiot in tennis shoes here in the Sun Belt.
U.S News, a division of the DemocRAT party reports that...
“Why do they vote liberal, and against America then?”
because they believe the media lies. And because the media does a good “divide & conquor” job.
Are you racist? Rather than speak so condescendingly about them, why not consider that they are intelligent people that are making their own decisions about how they want to shape our nation?
Immigrants come from countries that they and the people of their country made, evidently they want America to look more like the hell holes that they came from, that is why they don’t assimilate and adopt our ways, our religion, etc.
I thought it was in the GOP favor.
Every news story since this afternoon’s census data release has scored the result for the GOP. Even NBC sorrowfully reported it as a Republican win.
John is trying to polish a turd here. And, he's probably getting paid to do so.
They want to know why the gob'mn't doesn't pick up the trash ~ and then act astonished that private companies compete for that since that's a private sector thing!
It's much more complicated than that Simpleton.
Yet, when Ohaha ordered his faihtful bloc of latino backers to "Punish Their Enemies" by voting Democrat Nov 2, he got his backside shellacked bigtime. Ohaha also lost bigtime in 2009 state races. Read on.

NEW JERSEY IS IDENTITY FRAUD CENTRAL FOR LATINOS
Two Texans busted in bogus ID operation in NJ
NORTH BERGEN, NJ -- July 21, 2006 -- Pelcastre brothers, Angel and Jorge, Dallas, Texas, were a walking threat to US national security, expert document forgers who, for a few thousand dollars, could give anyone a new identity, authorities said. The Texas brothers turned a NJ hotel room into a business office and were readying a massive cache of fake Social Security cards for delivery to a local NJ identity broker.
The Texas brothers were a "one-stop shop" for a myriad of fake US documents, including birth certificates, Social Security cards, driver's licenses for any state in the US, passports and resident alien cards, said state police. Officers happened upon two cars bearing Texas plates in a NJ hotel parking lot. Authorities wouldn't identify the NJ hotel by name for fear it would spark retribution. The Drug Interdiction Task Force, regularly runs checks.
The Texas brothers were followed to a NJ office supply store nearby where they purchased computer supplies. Officers then followed the Texans to a NJ storage facility in Secaucus, NJ, where the Texans loaded several boxes into a car. One of them stood lookout. Authorities approached the Texas brothers when they returned to the NJ hotel and questioned them separately. The Texas brothers consented to a search.
Police recovered laminating sheets with built-in security features, pages of blank documents waiting for fake names and information, finished documents, computers and software to create the fake IDs.
All told, the haul was worth about $500,000 on the street. Police also recovered $6,000 in cash, which was the first payment from a NJ fake document broker for a shipment of 500 Social Security cards.
AND THIS The winning Republican Lt Governor candidate, former County Sheriff Kim Guadagno, had applied for the federal 287(g) program, which sought to question every inmate coming to the County jail about his/her immigration status, regardless of the offense. Then-Sheriff Guadagno said she wanted to ensure that "illegal criminals" were not unduly released for fear of further harm to the community. The 287(g) program would provide the Sheriff with personnel and tools to punish individuals being held at the County jail (even if they do not meet the criteria set forth by Corzine's sucking up to illegals).
Illegals lacerated Sheriff Guadagno for political pandering and for scouting incidents of indictable offenses such as driving under the influence by undocumented immigrants.
She won state office, anyway.
John drew the short straw in the newsroom.
