With Christmas only days away, and shopping malls packed, many Americans are scrambling for last minute gift ideas for kids, especially those older children, nephews, and nieces on your list. Heres one idea:
Give the gift of freedom and responsibility a gun.
Most states allow teenagers to own and possess long guns, and those 18 years of age and older to own, possess, and open carry handguns . . .

Exactly what Santa is bringing my kids,
along with a promise that their dad will teach them how to use them responsibly.
Just bought my 15 year old an 11-87 in 12 ga. He’s ready.
Great idea for the free states.
In NJ, a BB gun is a firearm. Discharging a BB gun in NJ is no different in the eyes of the law than discharging a .454 Casull or a 12ga shotgun.
First Gun I got was a Red Ryder BB gun and then graduated to a 22.
Never Shot my eye out either..
First Gun I got was a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas and then graduated to a 22 a couple Christmases later.
........Never Shot my eye out either..
Got an email from my niece. Her 13 y/o son just got his first buck; a 7 point. He is on cloud nine. That little dude is a crack shot with his 30-06.
Here too.
I want an SK-47 for Xmas with the big drum of ammo that goes up underneath.
Don’t forget to give those kids their NRA membership, too!
got a .410 single shot for Christmas at 9
Buy them a rifle and take them to an Appleseed! See my tagline.
7 year old granddaughter is getting a pink Red Ryder from Nana and Poppa. :)

I recently mentioned to my wife our two-year-old is “my kid, she’ll be outshooting most cops before she’s twelve.”
“Oh no she won’t” answers she!
“Did that sound like a question to you?” says I!
My oldest who is 14 has a savage bolt hmr .17, Rem. .22 and a Ruger air rifle. My 11 yr. old daughter loves to shoot her 22/45 when I take it out of the safe and we go to the range and my 8 yr. old has a ruger 10/22 which he enjoys shooting.
I have just taught them the rules of shooting and gun safety from the time they could talk. Nothing wrong with a nice firearm for Christmas.
Bought my son a Remington Gamemaster for this Christmas. He will Love it!
Why are these weapons unloaded? Never mind..... Obama!!!
Marlin Model 60 for me at 9 also. Still have it and it can still take out a rabbit's eye at 30 yards with el cheapo Thunderbolt ammo.
I got a Sear & Roebuck single-shot .22 cal rifle for Christmas when I was 12 years-old. I have never been unarmed since.
I was at a gun shot today and a couple were purchasing a single shot .22 for their son. Lucky kid.
When my kids turned 18 they recived a 9mm auto and 38 revolver. They all ready owned rifles and shotguns.
No! No! No! This is a terrible idea. I did this for my kids and they formed this opinion that they could take them with them when they moved out. I tried to straighten them out and told them that I had just loaned them the guns, that they were to young to own guns, and that the Christmas and wrapping paper were just to help set the mood.
And to add insult to injury, my wife agreed with them.
My gun inventory dropped by 35% when both boys moved out.
Then there was that tragic boating accident and I lost the rest of them.
I’m sure this is a thought provoking article (I won’t know because I won’t bother clicking on it and you don’t think it’s worth posting) but it does belong under Bloggers.
Why, so it will be buried in obscurity where 90% of the people who replied to the thread wouldn’t see it?
I am deeply sorry for your loss. I hope, at least, you were able to salvage a few of their firearms.
It’s still obscure. :-)
If he’d bothered to post it all, it wouldn’t be as obscure.
But, yeah, “Examiner” is still a blog. With lots of flash and popup ads to boot.
I take it you're another one of the alternative media hating Freepers that prefers ad revenue only go to the NY Times so they can bring us more Paul Krugman?
This “alternative media” pimp is a poasting bot for his blog.
If he really believed he had something to add, he would simply post it and then stay and discuss.
ALL his posts are “1” of something.
Posting bot pimp for his blog.
5.56mm
Irrelevant. He’s a pimp. See my #30.
Others are entitled to their opinion, of course. I’ll have mine.
Using the "you're a hater" argument makes you a loser.
We donate money to Free Republic to make it a great conversation site for Conservatives. We do NOT spend our money on FR for it to serve as a marketing tool and launching point for blog hits which take people OFF of the FR site to get their information.
If you wish to be a part of this COMMUNITY then post articles, discuss them here, and provide a link to your blog that people can voluntarily explore if they wish.
DO NOT make them leave our site to get to your own personal work. Your own work you can post here without excerpting. To do otherwise is blog pimping and is against the rules. Not only against the rules, but looked down on as very poor form indeed.
I already knew that. You're not the first to tell me that's the model they prefer here.
When I was a kid it was common for kids to get guns for Christmas.
My youngest has offered to sell one of “his” guns back to me but at a profit.
Damned capitalist!
.22 rifles, .410 shotguns and Christmas morning sounded like a war zone with everybody trying out .22s,.410s, 16 and 12 gauge shotguns
Are you a slow learner, then?
Them's the rules.
Additionally, I personally am paying for the upkeep of this site that you are using to make a profit.
Where's my cut of your advertising dollars?
That's what would be the Capitalistic way to settle this if you want to work this out in pure terms. That and a cut to Jim Robinson and everyone else who invests in FR as an advertising-free zone.
You don't get to park your ads here rent free, dude.
I don't have a site to get advertising dollars. But are you protesting the posting of WaPo and NY Times excerpts? I haven't seen that yet.
You only seem to have a problem with conservatives getting page views, or that's all you'll publicly complain about.
You continue doing as you like.
See how it works out for you.
Do what as I like?
I grew up with guns. Got my first hand-me-down Daisy BB gun when I was about 6. My 2 older brothers worn it out! It was so weak the BB would fall on the ground about 10 feet from the barrel. LOL! Boy-o-boy I had fun with it though.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with teaching kids how to shoot and handle guns responsibly. In fact it is a skill that may serve them well in the all too near future.
I really hate these a—holes who hijack our FR threads about good old America so as to advance their own political agenda.
Posting in blogs, not posting in blogs, bandwidth, hits, NY Slimes, Zero, hyperlinks to their own sites so as to increase their hits.
Can’t you mindless zombies go read Huffington Post or maybe the Drudge Retort.
If the excerpt is well written and catches your attention enough to click on the thread, why is it such a burden to you to go to the site and read the rest? Examiner.com is well put together and has a LOT of great writers who are of a strong conservative bent AND get paid based on the number of hits to their articles. No, they are NOT JUST bloggers, but serious members of the new media and are deserving of our support. If you can’t support someone just with a simple click to the examiner.com site and want him or her to write everything for free, just to meet YOUR standards of purity, you are pitiful excuses for human beings and probably liberals in disguise.
We're not here to provide you a revenue stream. We're here to provide FR an information stream.
If you are linking to your own work through excerpts on FR you are advertising on our volunteer supported, advertising-free site without paying for it. Since we do not accept advertising fees from anyone you are a mere blog pimp.
We are more interested in people posting full articles that they find and excerpting only those that force us to excerpt. We don't much respect most of those that force us to excerpt.
If you force FReepers to excerpt your blog just so you can get hits rather than share your work with the FR community then you are really not much of a conservative community member after all. You are merely advertising on an advertising-free website which classifies you as a blog pimp. Blog pimping is not allowed.
Sorry, I got my posts confused last night. I didn't mean to accuse you of anything. Sorry again.
Fortunately it’s not yet MY revenue stream. However, your unwillingness to see someone paid for his work certainly speaks volumes to your credentials. Even JimRob gets paid for his work on FR. You are naught but an intellectual leech, contributing nothing but more than willing to suck the life out of those who write for a living and are willing to share, to a point, the product of their minds!! They deserve to get paid for their efforts, just like JimRob. And all it takes on your part is a click. Now I’m talking just about examiner.com, not blogspot.com or whatever.
You're line is bullsh!t. I'm not in charge. I am a professional and I expect to get paid in the proper venue. This ain't it. I'm just giving you the lay of the land.
Your personal insults tell me you don't have a logical, substantive leg to stand on. You know you're a predatory blog pimp. If I were a leach, I'd read your material, which I haven't. So I owe you nothing. Yet you are taking up my time arguing for free advertising which is against rules I didn't write and can't enforce.
What the hell is wrong with you? Shooting the messenger is pointless and insulting the messenger is very poor form indeed.
I dare you to have this argument with the management...
