That's Kate Middleton? Critics Slam New Royal Coin
Critics say Kate Middleton has a reason to be mad about her likeness.

LONDON -- Britain's Royal Mint has released a commemorative coin featuring supposedly lifelike portraits of Prince William and his bride-to-be - but critics say Kate Middleton has a right to be horrified.
Images of the couple on the memento bear little resemblance to either the prince or his 28-year-old betrothed. Middleton appears plump in the face and lips and has bags under her eyes. Some critics claim William looks like Al Gore.
Available in silver or gold, the 5-pound ($7.70) coin marks the April 29 wedding of the second-in-line to the British throne.

Hillbuzz said kate looked like a young ozzie osborne.
It may be a ploy by the engraver to issue a Wedding Coin.
They said Kate & William signed off on the coin.
"Love is Blind?"
They both look awful. He actually has much more defined features and so does she - not that you’d know that from this coin. They both look like walruses.
Back to the drawing board!
Only the Queen signed off on the coin.
I have only seen her a couple of times on TV but thought she was very pretty. That image on the coin does not look at all like her.
I will also say she is prettier than Princess Di.
Prince William doesn’t just look like Al Gore; he looks like a Zombey version of Al Gore. Night of the living dead.
I just noticed something else.
That image looks just like my Granddaughter. She is really sweet but just a bit pudgy.
My first thought when I saw the coin,Janis.
I see a melt of these coins in the very near future.
OMG,that’s just awful.
Whoever approved this coin should look for another line of work.
Prince William doesnt even have enough hair to do the Al Gore Combover.
Who know Al Gore and Janis Joplin would be engraved on the historical coin.
I think Kate’s image bears a striking resemblance to the USA Sacajaweau Dollar coin.
Dang, is that Al Gore’s nose on Diana...
He has made it onto Two Brit coins.
That is just horrible!
Maybe the Queen doesn’t like Kate any more than she did Diana.
Kate looks like Susan MacDougall...
Being British, it is a wonder they didn’t find a way to make the coin leak oil....
Yeh...but does William carry a tyre pressure gauge tucked into his sock...like Prince Charlie?
Washington Post is saying it looks like Janis Joplin and Beavis...or is it Butthead.
This coin is a perfect example of why I hate anything but a profile on a coin.
Look at the obverse, clean version of the profile of Her Majesty The Queen used on numerous Commonwealth coins. It’s a classic look.
The reverse is a crowded mess, the engraving job is horrible, it makes the Sacajawea Dollar look like art.
Alderney should be ashamed of itself for issuing this in the Queen’s name.
Oh,that’s totally Tim Guithner.
That’s gotta be the best-looking ever photo of Janis Joplin.
She looked allright from the neck down but her face was nothing to write home about.
You beat me to it. The image is a dead ringer for Janis in her latter days. Looks nothing whatsoever like Kate Middleton.
ya thats better
Looks more like Harry than William.
By the way, Harry favors none of the royals..and where’d he get that red hair? Just sayin’..
i’ve always thought that to— if we only knew—lol
She is a very pretty young Lady. The coin does not do her justice.
Is that engraver blind, or what?
Plantagenets had red hair. The Queen has half her own heritage from her mom, and her mom has that heritage in her.
The Queen’s mom was almost pure Brit.
Plus Diana’s side is essentially from the same stock as the Queen’s mom.
WOW! I figured I’d be the only one who thought that.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought it looked liked Gore.
Ahh . . . those two know they don’t look like that and coins have a way of being wonky. So, they don’t worry, they be happy. Metal has a way of distorting images. If anything’s done about it, I’ll be surprised. They will be gracious about it and handle it with class I would think. Much like the royals recently zinged the Obamas in classy repayment for his boorish attitude. Royals know how to zing in the right time and place it seems.
I have read the Queen Mother was mostly Scottish and Diana too. Also read that Diana was a direct descendant of Robert Bruce.
Too bad she was going to marry a Muzzie tho he may have been a rare one as he financed “Chariots of Fire” which was pretty accurate and fair to Christians and Jews.
I’ve actually got an unpublished book on all of it. The Queen’s entire genealogy. I’m not yet finished, I still have a fairly substantial section left to do, Queen Vicky’s husband Prince Albert’s family from 1800 to about 1500. So 15 generations.
The rest is completely done. All of Victoria’s descendents and ancestors are finished, as are the Albertines prior to 1500.
Certainly too much of it in FR.
Geoffrey Plantagenet, for example, was described as "handsome, red-headed, jovial, and a great warrior..."
here's a rather bad depiction - but the hair and beard are flame red
the flame hair ran in the line...
Middleton’s image is not reflective of her at all- this coin should be retracted and pronounced a dud (as much as i don’t like Middleton/one of the Wisteria Sisters)
100 percent prettier. I was never convinced that Di was this gorgeous woman that everyone claimed. Now Kate on the other hand is HOT!!!!
