Snowing here in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The temp is still in the upper 30’s so it ain’t stcking to the ground - yet.

I tend to lean towards the warnings of the mid 70’s, that we are on the fringes of the next Ice Age. I’m glad I moved down here before the SHTF...

Global Warming - my ass.

NYC Christmas travelers beware.

I reckon they won't get anywhere near NYC. Everything will be shutdown.

Prayers for those that have to be outside during this.

The kid has been plowing for them for the last 10 years, they are actually pretty tough on their contractors, after a small scandal or two. The kid plays it straight.

Seasonal registrations, being an excellent mechanic, and he is still fairly young. The killer is finding good drivers who don't wreck the damned things. He runs four trucks 1 1/2 pay the expenses.

It’s not just the snowfall total.

Blizzard warnings are only issued when sustained winds are over 35 mph with higher gusts and visibility reduced to less than a quarter of a mile for over 3 hours.

The amount of snow is not really relevant as the blowing winds causing whiteouts and drifting are the problem, even when the snowfall totals are light.

Hey I'm in NY and put in a pool a couple of years back, thinking global warming would give me at least 7 months a year of pool use. Now we get an ice age! Can I sue Algore for the cost of my pool?! Now I'll have to use those fossil fuels to run my pool heater.

I was scheduled on a flight from Manchester to Philly for tomorrow morning. USAIR called last night after 10 PM to tell me it was canceled.

I need to get a generator transfer switch installed this morning and tested out as well as put up a couple of tarps on the carport.

Button-up, everybody!

Well, it's official. Blizzard WARNING for our area. Total accumulation is anywhere from 12-20 inches between now and tomorrow evening.

And yet management at the plant hasn't made any determination as to whether or not to only call in essential personnel. Shocking, really. I look at it this way--if there's a chance I can't get home tomorrow night, I'm not leaving tomorrow morning, what with the critters and all.

I hear ya--if I were closeby I'd help you install the transfer switch. How much you wanna bet most of those idiots who paid premium bucks for generators after the 2008 ice storm don't have them anymore? Almost worth a trip down to the Home Depot or Lowe's to see the panic.

FWIW--I filled up all equipment, gas cans, and the Jeep last night. Ran snowblower and generator to make sure there are no problems with either one. Already cranked the fridge to max in case power goes out. Plenty of food/instant coffee, plenty of batteries, radio good to go.

Bring it.

Thanks for the offer. I have the line run into the basement and I can install the switch pretty fast if I have to. I also got gas and kerosene and I have test run the generator and the snow blower.

When it came it this afternoon, it came in smartly!
