Obama Returns to End-of-Life Plan That Caused Stir (Here's the Death Panels we were warned about)

When a proposal to encourage end-of-life planning touched off a political storm over “death panels,” Democrats dropped it from legislation to overhaul the health care system. But the Obama administration will achieve the same goal by regulation, starting Jan. 1.

Under the new policy, outlined in a Medicare regulation, the government will pay doctors who advise patients on options for end-of-life care, which may include advance directives to forgo aggressive life-sustaining treatment.

Congressional supporters of the new policy, though pleased, have kept quiet. They fear provoking another furor like the one in 2009 when Republicans seized on the idea of end-of-life counseling to argue that the Democrats’ bill would allow the government to cut off care for the critically ill.

The final version of the health care legislation, signed into law by President Obama in March, authorized Medicare coverage of yearly physical examinations, or wellness visits. The new rule says Medicare will cover “voluntary advance care planning,” to discuss end-of-life treatment, as part of the annual visit.

I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my grandfather. Not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car.

Oooh, biiiiiiiig mistake Obama, you’ll see. Old people vote.

Twice, once in Miami, and once in New York.

However, they'll still vote democrat when they're dead, won't they?

I hope Congress is taking this seriously. We are and if we go; they do too.

Anybody here surprised? Dogs bark. Lions roar. Democrats hate themselves and love death.

I’ll bet this sounded a whole lot better to them when they had the youth vote. However, I’m sure that there are some in the administration who consider this a way to get the youth vote. They are looking for the too stupid to get old crowd.

The origin of the death tax was ancient Rome. Nero needed a way to find rebuilding Rome so he levied a death tax. Then nobles across the empire started to die.

For a more recent example, Donald Scott in california had land the government coveted. They were sure that he was growing dope on that prime real estate. So prime that they had the property appraised before they raided the place. He was shot dead and his widow had to sell to the .gov to settle the estate.

Ousted COS, Rahm Emanuel put his brother Zeke
in charge of Medicare/Aid billions and O/care billions.

Luckily, Dr Zeke was spit-shining his penny loafers
when the subject of "O/Care death" panels surfaced.

The people granted Congress all legislative power under the Constitution. It is an unconstitutional affront for Congress to assign the power to unelected, unaccountable little dictators.

FL recently passed a law that requires legislative approval of all proposed state agency rule and regs that could cost society more than $1 million over five years. That's right, $1 million.

Isn’t there something a wee bit unethical, if you can’t get something through Congress, to do the same thing by fiat? “Will of the people” and all that?

"Will of the people! He said 'Will of the people'!"

And where are all the folks who said Palin was dumb?”

Boy, Oh Boy-——Nothing like handing the number 1 candidate for the Oval Office in 2012 a ready-made slate of issues!!!

The next 2 years are going to be very interesting-—and I think that Sarah is going to wipe the floor with NObama & all his minions on a very regular basis.

Better stock up on more popcorn, salt, & buttter.

I thought you might be wearing a tin foil hat on the Donald Scott case being about gov't wanting his property but it's documented.

Thanks for bringing it up.
