For Christmas this year, Chris Cooley gave a stranger a generous gift in exchange for something he considers priceless.
When someone called him on Christmas Eve and said he'd found his missing golden retriever, the Cotulla rancher promptly handed over the $10,000 he'd sworn as reward money for whomever returned his dog, Jim Bowie. The dog was stolen last week along with Cooley's pickup and trailer from the Bass Pro Shop parking lot off of Interstate 10.
Home again for the holidays, Jim Bowie tore through Cooley's North Side home Saturday, a boisterous reunion that proved more than a Christmas gift Dec. 25 is both Cooley's and the dog's birthday. J.B. turned 1 and Cooley 46.

The only thing that bothers me is the fact the man took the 10 grand, no matter how much he needed it, a good honest deed should not be rewarded monetarily.

Certainly brings suspicion upon him, warranted or unwarranted.

I was thinking an earlier article mentioned papers on this dow. I know we paid $1600 for a Golden that has better blood lines than I do.
And there is NO way I'd leave her un-attended in a vehicle for ANY reason.

I’m wondering if this is part of a scam. The thief could very well have sold the pickup for a nice chunk of change and perhaps made an additional $10 grand by returning the dog. That wouldn’t be a bad day’s work.
To: Racehorse
Will trade back with his wife.

I suppose the guy thought the dog would double as a guard dog... it didn’t.

Talk is cheap.
Mr. Cooley is not.
LOVE does, it does not just talk.
I hope that they catch and DESTROY the thieves.
I was thinking about sending him $5 or $10 towards the debt. It’s not much but it’s what I can spare.
Such love and loyalty should be rewarded imo.
To: NoGrayZone
I agree. If I found the dog/truck, and could do something to re-unite with the owner, that's my duty as a Christian.

Exactly. Even if the owner begged me to take the money, I would refuse. I would just be grateful to God that I was able to help someone in need.....and He chose me to do it.
You cannot get any greater an “award” then God’s smile upon you.
