Taxes trigger a Texodus in New York
New York Post ^ | 12/27/10 | Jennifer Fermino

Posted on 12/27/2010 9:54:13 AM PST by Nachum

The Lone Star State is scooping up more than just our congressional seats -- some $846 million in personal income shifted from New York to Texas in an eight-year period during the last decade, according to an analysis of IRS tax returns.

Texas, which has no state or local income taxes and an enviably low cost of living, has been steadily poaching New Yorkers since the '90s, according to data from the Tax Foundation, a nonpartisan tax research organization based in Washington.

From 2000 to 2008, more than $846 million in personal income moved from New York to Texas -- with more than $212 million leaving in 2006 and '07.

New York lost an estimated $38.4 billion in personal income to other states in that same time period, while Texas gained roughly $12.2 billion from migration.

Texas was the big winner in the 2010 Census, which was announced last week. It picked up four House seats, more than any other state.

The fading Empire State came up short and lost two seats thanks to its sluggish population growth of 2.1 percent, compared with the national average of 9.7 percent.

"People aren't moving down to those Sunbelt states for the weather," said Kenneth Adams, president and CEO of the Business Council of New York State.

"It's three things: taxes, taxes and taxes."

And, about 6 months after arrival, the NYers start bemoaning the lack of social services.

Yeah, and they've been poaching libtards from kalifornistan, too. That's what ruined Austin.

Careful, Texas.

And they wonder why I just stay in Michigan.

The more liberals that leave, the better. I’ll just keep trying to lure individual conservatives here.

They shouldn't. It's bad here. Illegal aliens all over the place. Rattlesnakes in the silverware drawer. Black mold in the walls. Tornadobows. If I owned Texas and hell, I'd rent out Texas and live in hell. It's bad here. A scorpion just carried away one of the grandkids.

Really, really. Stay away from Texas.

I keep talking about moving from New Jersey to Texas, but everybody I know in Texas keeps telling me how terrible it is, 120 degrees during the day, 30 below at night, with cock-a-roaches the size of crows... I dunno, maybe I’ll just stay in Jersey...

NY/NJ wrecking places like SC, NC, FL and a few others. Texas GOP is filled with open-border RINO scum like Kay Bailey, Cornyn and Perry. Ft. worth and TCU are very g*y friendly.

Don’t come down here, you’re not wanted unless you’re conservative, like to work, love America, and hate taxes! If not, keep your liberal, America-hating, high taxation butts up there. You made your bed up there, you lie in it!

And that’s in the relatively temperate spring and fall. It’s worse — MUCH worse — in the summer and winter. ;-)

It’s not just their money that comes with them. We’ll get their libtard mentality and votes too. They’ll want to change what makes Texas productive.

No thanks!

I'd reply to your post, but it just started raining frogs from a clear sky here in Ft. Worth. And after the recent brushfire, I've got to fence out the feral, rabid goats.

Those guys in NY don't know how easy they have it.

Once upon a time my dad guided some yankees hunting down here for white-tailed deer. When they shot their buck my dad cleaned the deer, asking them if they wanted the poison glands. They completely believed him that the deer had poison glands so we ended up with the tenderloins from that buck. It was very funny.

It's not too bad. I haven't seen more than 6-7 public sacrifices of software engineers in the last couple of days. Probably that Christmas spirit working.

You hit the nail right on the head with that comment. In fact, it does not take 6 months. I love it when I hear this in North Florida: This was done better or we paid the teachers more where I came from, normally the North East. My comment is, well, why not just go back and why again did you more here in the first place?
